Not accepting new clients
X I am not currently accepting new clients X Are you struggling with anxiety due to loss, relationships, work or coming to terms with episodes from your past? Maybe you want to explore why you behave, think or feel as you do, which can lead to positive change or self-acceptance. Have you kept worries to yourself for a while, not sleeping and not sharing how you really feel because you’re frightened that people won’t understand or that you’ll be a burden?

Embark on a transformative journey with me. I offer both short and long-term support, drawing from research on childhood trauma and depression's impact on chronic illness. With specialised experience in neurological conditions, LGBTQ+ issues, and trauma, I offer genuine support, drawing from personal and professional insights. My approach fosters a genuine connection, creating a safe haven for exploration within a trauma-informed framework. I believe in the profound power of self-expression and acceptance, especially for those who find it challenging elsewhere.

Life brings all sorts of challenges and some can be much harder to overcome than others. Most adults can remember a time when they were dealing with a situation so tough that everyday living became more challenging than usual. For children and young people, who have not had time to develop their own coping strategies, such situations are even more difficult to cope with. Many children who are having a difficult time do not know what it is that they are feeling and cannot put it into words. Counselling for children and young people might be slightly different to the traditional idea of therapy you may have in mind.

I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor with a therapy room based in South Manchester (Sale). Person Centred counselling encourages an exploration of your thoughts, experiences and feelings which in turn can help you to be open to change, personal growth and self-exploration. Working together, at your own pace will allow us to explore what is troubling you allowing deep routed issues to be gently uncovered thus identifying what you need creating space to help reconcile your thoughts and find new ways of coping. The power of being truly heard can often be a profoundly healing process and may initiate positive changes.

I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2009 and have over 18 years experience working for the NHS. I worked in the Specialty of Weight Management for 8 years. My aim was to help people understand the psychological barriers to making health-related changes. I work with people to explore the reasons behind obesity, overweight, binge eating, emotion-driven eating (comfort eating) and/or difficulties breaking the cycle of yo-yo dieting. I also help people improve their relationships with food, their bodies and with themselves.

Unhelpful thoughts and uncomfortable feelings are part of being human. Sometimes however, we can get stuck in a painful vicious cycle by reacting in unhelpful ways. This doesn’t mean we’re broken. If you’d like to learn new ways of responding to these thoughts and feelings then maybe I can help. I have a lot of experience assessing and treating a wide range of problems using CBT. I use a range of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and mindfulness tools to enhance and compliment traditional CBT. I find this approach extremely effective in helping people to recognise and break unhelpful patterns, overcome problems and prevent relapse.

Throughout life we all suffer from personal, emotional and psychological issues. Usually we overcome these but sometimes we can get stuck, tangled up and become negatively affected. If you are finding yourself experiencing anxiety or depression, or struggling with any other issues, then know that help is always available. Whatever it is, I am here to listen attentively, with empathy, without any judgement, and in complete confidence. There are multiple approaches to counselling, but rather than push a particular one (that may not be suitable for you) I prefer we work together to decide which is the best way forward for you.
