Hello, my name is Leila (she/her). I am a proudly female and teen only person-centred counsellor, based in Newport. I am a registered member of the BACP and offer face-to-face sessions. I specialise in bereavement therapy (adults and teens) and working with young people (11-18yrs). Alongside my private practice I have experience of running STEPS, the bereavement support group based in Newport. I also have over two years' experience working as a bereavement counsellor for Cruse Bereavement Care and as a young person's counsellor with Off The Record, Bristol.
I have experience of working with a range of issues, including: low mood, anxiety, self-esteem, body image issues, relationships, health related issues, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. I have experience of working with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds, including neurodivergent clients and clients from the LGBTQ+ community.
At the heart of my practice is empathy and the acceptance of you, just as you are. I aim to create a space of emotional safety where you can uncover what is troubling you, without fear of judgement or shame. I want to support you to be comfortable with the uncomfortable. I will sit with you in those moments until you are ready to begin a deeper exploration.
