I specialise in working with clients with PTSD and trauma based symptoms. I also work with OCD and other mental health problem, through the use of CBT & EMDR. CBT works by the theory that we can manage and modulate our emotions through evaluating/changing our cognitions & behaviours accordingly. EMDR utilises bilateral stimulation (eye movements) to aid the reprocessing of symptoms of Trauma and PTSD, focusing on trauma memories whilst integrating and updating these with Adaptive Information Processing, aiding resolution of symptoms in the present
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is a unique, powerful therapy that helps people recover from problems triggered by traumatic events in their lives. It stops difficult memories causing so much distress by helping the brain to reprocess them properly, working with memory to heal the legacy of past pain.
I know very well how hard it can be to take the first step in reaching out for support. I offer a very warm, confidential and non judgemental space for everyone I work with. I have a keen interest and experience in working with members of the LGBTQI community and I approach this by helping individuals explore & work through any shame and trauma experienced.
