When we try to surpress strong emotions, they have a nasty habit of impacting on our lives in other ways through our behaviours. We can try to ignore them or numb them but they are still there. After a while the pressure grows and it starts to impact on those around us, our jobs, our families. You may feel alone and isolated and struggling to find the answer.
Having a regular opportunity to process these emotions with a counsellor can release the pressure and help you to build a better understanding of yourself. A counsellor might just listen while you work it all out, sometimes they might suggest strategies that support you on your journey.
I believe the success of counselling is determined by the relationship created in the room between the counsellor and the client. For this reason I offer a free initial 30 mins session for us to meet without any further obligation, to establish if you feel the relationship is right. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't but we don't know unless we try.
