I work with adults and adolescents 16+, and am experienced with a range of difficulties. Typically people come to psychotherapy because they feel in a crisis or at an impasse, and/or have been struggling for a while with a problem which despite their best efforts remains hard to overcome. They may recognise they find themselves in a repeating pattern in behaviour or relationships, which they feel is unsatisfying or self-destructive. They want to understand the origins of their difficulty and the factors which maintain it, so they can gain freedom from it and live a more satisfying and creative life.
I have over 40 years of mental health experience with adults, adolescents and children and families, gained in the NHS and private practice. As a psychoanalytic ( aka psychodynamic) psychotherapist), I can offer short term, time-limited or open-ended therapy. Therapy explores experiences past and present, beliefs and feelings, and how these influence you.
It is typical for people to think about psychotherapy for a long time before making contact; speaking of personal issues to a stranger is a brave step to take. But having done so, many feel relief to tell their story and have the complete attention of a compassionate, well trained professional who is dedicated to your wellbeing and personal development
