We all develop ways to protect ourselves, even when they don't serve us well. If you feel you want to create new ways of being to replace the armour that no longer serves you, we can make that journey together. If you feel that you're not living to your full potential or that you're never really heard, supported or understood, if anxiety is ever present, you don't need to be alone as we can explore all this together. If your mind is an endless cycle of thoughts keeping you awake at night, expressing your thoughts in a safe environment can bring them into the open for you to examine from a different perspective.

I am an experienced psychoanalytic psychotherapist in Twickenham and can support you in exploring the root causes for your difficulties in living. We will talk about early significant relationships in your life and models of thinking, feeling and behaving you may have internalised. In a collaborative process, we try to bring these patterns into awareness. By experimenting with new ways of feeling, thinking and behaving, you may experience a new sense of freedom and new neural pathways are formed.

If you're reading this profile, you may be ready for a shift in your life. I work with individuals and couples. I specialise in Trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD, Coping Skills, Self-Esteem & More. Together, we can create a calm, safe and relaxing environment to self discover without judgement. This is what helps bring clarity and awareness to my clients. Many people feel 'broken' when they have experienced and lived with trauma. I work with people to help those fractured parts, heal. I provide a space for those parts to be heard, and to move towards a sense of wholeness in time. I help clients to find themselves, sometimes for the first time.

I have extensive training including a Master's degree in Psychotherapy. My own experiences relating to family dynamics, a career in the mental health sector, motherhood, relationships and loss are reflected and undoubtedly beneficial in the way I work. Professionally, I have a breadth of counselling experience working with adolescents and adults who have sought therapy while grappling with a range of challenges impacting their lives. I have also worked extensively with family carers who can, for example, feel isolated, depressed, stressed, anxious, resentful or angry.

You are facing a challenge that feels too difficult to handle alone. You want support in working towards feeling less anxious or overwhelmed. You want a chance to talk about what has been creating difficulty for you or perhaps try and understand what is causing you distress. You want the chance to have a space which allows you to open up and work towards a renewed sense of possibility.

Hello! My goal is to help my clients through their life challenges and empower them to live a more fulfilled life. Anxiety, low mood... bereavement, relationship difficulties, trauma ... we all carry emotional bagage but sometimes, we need to find space and time to work through it so that we can free ourselves from the chains that are holding us back. As a therapist, I believe in kindness - a warm and compassionate ear - validation and no judgement. But I also believe that sometimes, my role is to challenge your perspective so that you can see those self defeating patterns and make the changes that you want to make for yourself.

It is not always easy for children and adolescents to put their feelings and emotions into words and psychodynamic psychotherapy is a therapeutic process which helps children understand and resolve their problems by gently increasing an awareness over time of their inner world. It differs from other therapies in that it aims for deep seated change in emotional development and is conducted at the child’s pace. Are you concerned about your child's emotional development, changes in their behaviour, signs of stress, anxiety or low mood?

Feeling low? Not sure why? Or maybe you know why but not sure what to do about it. Either way, I am here to help you work through this difficult time. It takes courage to reach out and ask for support so it is important to find a counsellor who you feel comfortable with. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to help you reflect on your personal experiences, develop self-awareness and make the changes you are looking for, to obtain a more fulfilling life. Asking for support is not admitting you can't cope, it's about looking for ways to help you cope.

Are you going through a difficult and overwhelming time in your life right now? Are you experiencing a painful loss, or are you going through a difficult time adjusting to change? During these times, it is helpful to talk to someone who is really listening, who can come alongside you, help you to make sense of what you're feeling, and help you to find your way through. I work with young people (16+) and adults.

On the surface, you project complete control and perfection. But below the surface, you are paddling fiercely to stay afloat. Are you a high- achiever tired of this race to relentlessly prove that you are worthy of success, validation, love, respect, accolades, etc? Have imposter syndrome, “what’s next” syndrome, inner loneliness, powerlessness, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, guilt, insecurity, relationship difficulties, or unresolved grief and loss become unbearable? Are you ready to take back control of your decision-making, life choices and relationships?

Everyone feels overwhelmed or troubled at some point in their lives. It may feel like this is a strange and new experience, or it may be all too familiar. You may know clearly what you want to address or you may have only a vague sense of what feels wrong. I can help, I have experience and expertise to offer, and a willingness to understand what is going on for you and what brings you to therapy. Together we can explore and make some sense of your experience and feelings, and find new and lasting ways forward.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
