I am a Consultant Nurse currently on a career break, an accredited EMDR consultant and clinical supervisor. I specialise in working with co-morbid physical and mental health problems, although I work with people with everything from mild anxiety to complex trauma. I also have training in DBT, NLP, Hypnosis and am an accredited EFT practitioner. I believe that the mind and body are closely connected and one has to heal using the body and the mind to get the best benefit.

Many of us can be our own harshest critic...never feeling good enough, never feeling as if we are "enough", not wanted or unloveable...these thoughts understandably have a big impact on our wellbeing and day to day functioning. It's not just you that feels this way - many of us struggle with these thoughts and feelings at times, but particularly if we've experienced adversity or trauma, this may have become the "norm" in the way we think about ourselves. But this can change. And when we start to think about ourselves and relate differently to ourselves, the world feels like a much better place!

We all struggle at some point in our lives and there is benefit in seeking some help to move forwards and get past what is holding us back. Professional psychology sessions can fundamentally change things within a short number of sessions (6-16). I work with people who have any presentation of symptoms, experiences or unexplained ongoing physical or neurological symptoms. I work with trauma - which is what we can be left with following challenging relationships or difficult life events.

Do you feel anxious, worried or depressed? Sometimes life can be hard, and it can difficult to make sense of distressing thoughts and feelings, and heal from painful life events. Sometimes we might find ourselves stuck, and unable to move forward in the way that we wish to. Often talking to family and friends may be difficult for a number of reasons. This is when it can be helpful to talk to a trained professional who is unbiased and separate from your life. I will provide a safe, confidential space for you, underpinned by a supportive and empathic therapeutic relationship where we can work together on your difficulties.

I am passionate about supporting and empowering people to overcome life’s obstacles. My experience has allowed me the privilege of working closely with those facing unexpected and serious life events, either for themselves or those close to them. Often this has been as a result of physical health issues, neurological conditions, life stage transitions, loss or traumatic events; resulting in understandable distress and overwhelm for the person. I provide the opportunity to truly hear your story, understand how your experiences have influenced your life, discovering options for your next steps and a guide to your goals for therapy.

Life can be difficult. It throws up challenges, changes and conflicts. These can be within ourselves, or in our relationships and work, or from living in a worrying world. Counsellors work together with people who are faced with troubles, burdens and questions and seek to help them find a better place to be. Whatever the source of the problem I believe that counselling has the potential to help. People can talk to someone who will not judge them but listen to them carefully and supportively. Counsellors can also go a little deeper and use a range of techniques which may be of help.

A front line War Veteran whose been through some shit, both in the military and in my private life. It's fair to say I am not your stereotypical counsellor, what I am is just some guy who has struggled at times and as a result of those struggles went to university and got my BA Honours degree in Counselling in order to be able to help others understand their shit and get through it, "fall down seven times stand up eight". We all have our own demons to fight but that doesn't mean we have to fight them alone

My therapy is practical, straight forward and it works. Cognitive behaviour therapy was designed for anxiety related issues from panic to OCD. It is perfect for depression or anger issues. As a qualified hypnotherapist I also teach relaxation and mindfillness meditation to those who want that extra dimension to their therapy.
