Challenges, issues and difficulties can happen to us all during our lives and it can be easy for them to begin to feel unmanageable. This can leave us with feelings that we struggle to make sense of or leave us feeling out of control. Asking for help when you need it is the first step to making sense of those feelings and making them more manageable. I offer a safe and confidential space for you to share and explore the issues you are facing, speak freely without fear of judgement, be heard and be understood from your own experience and perspective.

Feeling overwhelmed by not meeting your own or others expectations of you, feeling low or totally stressed out. Drinking too much? I can help. Worry and anxiety can come in many different forms and be caused by a lot of different reasons. Life isn’t always straight forward or easy. For example being a parent can be challenging and maintaining relationships sometimes suffer as a result of life’s ups and downs. Trying to find a way forward, having somewhere to speak about what is going on and getting it off your chest and then looking for solutions may be what you are after. Getting some answers and relief from what ever is going on.

Life can be hard and doesn't always go the way we would like. I offer a range of times to suit your needs. Where together we can explore what you are experiencing and work towards, creating a meaningful life. I am currently conducting masters research, of my final year in transpersonal psychology, so any spiritual counselling that is required we can work together. I offer a place to get away from everything and talk while feeling safe without judgement. This can be a place to process what has gone on and learn how the world is perceived uniquely by you.

Sometimes our lives are interrupted by events, changing circumstances and personal challenges. Having a trusting and non-judgemental relationship with a caring professional, can enable you to work through such difficult times and move forward. We can work together to explore your current situation in a safe, non-directive and confidential way. This will give you the opportunity to reflect, question, process, allow for change, or whatever you feel is necessary at this time. If what you need is someone to listen unconditionally and respectfully, as you find your way on your journey, then we can work together.

I offer a Counselling service to individuals, young people and families who may be facing personal difficulties and challenges. We all experience painful events and losses at various times in our lives and Counselling creates a safe containing space for clients to explore and process their emotions on a range if issues that may be impacting on them negatively. This can help clients to identify their triggers which may be responsible for creating the emotional and or physical distress. It also helps develop some strategies for clients to have at their disposal to manage better the impacts of the distress being experienced.

To promote healing and facilitate wholeness, therapy is tailored to your needs ensuring that all levels of your being and functioning are fully maximised. This means working together to explore emotions, behaviours, thoughts and physiology, in addition to social and spiritual aspects. Relationships from childhood may also be explored and all of this helps to facilitate the coming together of mind, body, feeling, and soul as a whole. My aim is to empower you through self-exploration and a deeper understanding of the factors in your life that are causing current concerns.

Counselling isn't just about talking—it's about being truly heard, gaining clarity, and taking steps towards positive change. If you're wrestling with feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, depression, or a sense of purposelessness, know that you're not alone. I'm here to help. When things get too much it's often hard to see clearly and find the right path. Life's challenges may have knocked you down, but they don't define you. Through counselling, you'll regain a sense of self and learn how to unleash your full potential. Join me in-person, on line or in the presence of natures very own therapy room with a walk and talk therapy session.

I feel successful counselling is built on a foundation of a good therapeutic relationship. I will work with you and try to build that relationship. I will do this by treating everything we talk about as confidential, being honest, genuine, respectful and non-judgemental. This will build trust between us and of the counselling process, which will enable you to explore your feelings and thoughts at your own pace and in a safe space. During counselling we will work together to build those foundations which will enable, underpin and reinforce a productive therapeutic relationship that can help you to discover solutions.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
