I can offer you couples work or one-to-one personal therapy. You may have relationship and/or personal issues and these may relate to your self esteem, trust issues, anger, parenting, problems with anxiety, stress and depression, or you may just feel that your current situation is limiting you. I am an experienced couples and individual therapist and you won't know if therapy can help you unless you try. It can be difficult though to reach out. You can work with me and I will offer you a safe, supportive space. We can talk things through together. Sometimes we all need to turn to someone who isn't a family member or a friend.

Therapy is all about creating meaningful change that will help you to not be held back by mental health difficulties and live your life to the fullest. There's a massive difference between living, and merely existing, and I have been there myself. I feel privileged and excited to be a part of your journey to reach your full potential. This can be a daunting time, as you explore parts of yourself that you haven't acknowledged before, or you have tried previously to work on. I am passionate about therapy as I have seen how life changing it can be and will help you every step of the way to achieve your goals.

At times, life can throw us curve balls, and although we've dealt with some of the most trying times, where we've managed to muddle through in the face of adversity, there are times in life where we start feeling stuck, anxious, low and unmotivated. Sometimes all we need is a sounding board to let out our frustrations when no-one else seems to understand and other-times we need help finding our answers on how to move forward. Whether its old patterns that keep repeating themselves or unexpected events which throw you off course, we all need a helping hand in our journey

I provided Clinical Management at Signpost Youth Counselling Agency (2010-2019) and Counselling for the following organisations - Leavale Talking Therapies, Counselling Foundation, Watford Women's Centre, Talk in Herts, Alcohol Advice Centre, Herts Young Homeless, Peace Hospice and Cruise.
I know that it can be daunting reaching out for help and that many people never do reach out, perhaps because they are the strong ones who are supporting everyone else around them so their needs are at the bottom of the long list of things to do and people to look after. Please know that you are important too. And in helping yourself, you are also helping those around you. If you are feeling troubled, I'm here to listen without judgement and I can help and support you to work towards feeling better. Remember tomorrow is a bright new day and there is always hope.

As parents when our children are struggling we just want to help but often don’t know how. What they are facing can feel overwhelming but there is hope. Counselling provides children and young people with a safe space where they can explore, work things out, heal and move on from difficulties that they experience. Working with someone who is not a family member or friend, but who is supportive, non-judgmental and accepting, who helps us make sense of what we are going through and move forward, can be really beneficial. I aim to help young people accept and value themselves, raise their resilience, gain coping skills and thrive.

Counselling is about investing time in yourself and people seek counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing unwanted thoughts and feelings that are having a negative impact on your life or have specific issues you wish to talk about that are affecting you. Sometimes we repeat old patterns of behaviour that affect our relationships and every day lives. I have particular experience in childhood trauma, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, addiction and stress at work. Please give me a call or message for a free phone consultation to discuss how I can help you.

I have worked in private practice for 7 years, having previously developed a good foundation of experience working in a range of settings, including women’s, stroke, older persons, and mental health charities prior to working with families in a hospice setting.
Are you struggling to make sense of things? Maybe your confidence is wavering, and it is difficult to see what you want in life. You may be experiencing changes in your life- leaving home, going to university, children leaving home, relationship changes, serious illness or loss. It can be unsettling finding your way through. Sometimes these changes can make us feel lacking in confidence, unsure or without a purpose. We can work together to help you to make sense of things, to help you to understand the situation that you find yourself in. Perhaps to reach a comfort with the change, to adapt to it or to help find your way forward.

From the outset I offer a safe, non-judgemental, confidential environment where you can talk about how you are feeling and gain deeper insight into any difficulties you may be experiencing. I will aim to support you to feel at ease in taking this first step. I am BACP accredited and have 15 years experience working with adults with a wide range of presenting concerns.

I’m a counsellor and therapist based a short walk from Watford Town Centre. I work with individuals experiencing many different challenges. These might include depression, anxiety, issues around relationships and sex, questions around identity, issues with confidence and self-esteem, feelings of hopelessness or struggles finding meaning, and everything in-between. As an integrative therapist, my therapeutic practice and thinking are informed by a number of widely recognised approaches. Above all, I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is what makes it such an effective catalyst for change.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
