Whatever may be troubling you, I can help. Our lives are impacted by our history, culture, social circumstances, friendships and a whole host of other factors. These aspects condition us to respond and interact with people and situations in our lives in very particular ways. My work with you would be to understand your life from your unique perspective and help you get in touch with a more resourced part of yourself, which is beyond the psychological and social conditioning, to help you overcome any difficulties or challenges you may be facing.

If you struggle to talk about your problems and perhaps do not feel that your emotional needs are being met, talking to an impartial person who is a good listener can often help make sense of what is happening for you. Sometimes family members are not useful in these situations and that is where counselling could be a proactive and empowering move forward for you.

The people I work with face a number of the following: being burntout, feeling like they’re buried by the demands of life and lost the spark for life, struggling with stress, unsure about their identity, feeling like they don’t know themselves, wrestling with self critical thoughts and a lack of self acceptance, dealing with gender dysphoria, unsure about coming out to people, facing some tough reactions from others, wanting some support in adopting a new relationship structure or philosophy towards relationships, struggling with insecurities, experiencing difficult emotions like jealousy, anger and resentment.

Right now you may feel desperate, lost, empty, stressed, anxious or fed up. Whatever difficulty has prompted you to seek Counselling does not define who are you are and the journey you want to take in life. Together we will explore your feelings of being stuck, alone or in darkness as you strengthen your own resources to create greater wellbeing, resilience and satisfaction. No person is the same or brings identical experiences but frequent issues I work with include depression, anxiety, loss & bereavement, trauma, suicidal thoughts, work or school stress and relationship tensions. I work with clients aged 13+ and with Couples.

I'm a UK-based American therapist focused on supporting your unique needs with a unique approach. I think that you and I are both imperfect humans working together to gain understanding of your experience. I facilitate this exploration through compassionate curiosity and open exploration of emotions. I firmly believe you know yourself best; I’m just here to support. Whatever you feel like you need support with, I'm here to work alongside you with compassion and empathy (and sometimes a little silliness). I offer flexible scheduling online for people who travel regularly, or have difficult schedules.

I find the Person-Centred Approach fits my own philosophy as it has at its very core, an unshakable belief that all people are good. Person-Centred counselling believes that each and every person can, and will, become a more fully functioning person if given the correct conditions. The underpinning principles of the Person- Centred Approach are focused on the counsellor being honest, non-judgmental and fully accepting whilst being fully integrated in the relationship allowing the client to lead and set the pace. I aim to offer these conditions as best as I can during our relationship.

I'm a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with a LGBTQIA+ practice working with individuals, relationships and groups in Central London and Online. People seek counselling for many reasons - You might be struggling with anxiety and depression or challenging life events that left you feeling disconnected from yourself, your partner(s), or the world. Or you might be wanting to explore your gender/sexual identities experiences in a non-judgemental, safe space. Whilst all emotions are natural expressions of our human nature, traumatic events and systemic issues can be destabilising, leaving us feeling hopeless and stuck in a place of hurting.

I help high-performing professionals/entrepreneurs, they are often driven by logic and working in tech/finance/law/media/arts. I specialise in helping people develop a relationship with their body, and to understand the impact of their feelings and emotions on the body and vice versa. I often work with those with experience of living life on the edge, and/or complex, troubled relationships. I work well with people for whom talking about personal matters feels very difficult. I am not easily shocked and I also understand the need for taking things slowly and sensitively. My approach is kind, practical, down-to-earth and creative.

I am a clinically trained psychodynamic psychotherapist, qualified to Master of Science level (Birkbeck, University of London). Working in NHS primary care, through a London-based GP practice, for several years, I have helped patients from many backgrounds, nationalities, ethnicities, religions, genders, and sexual orientations with the internal, and often, unconscious conflicts that have negatively impacted their emotional and mental well-being and that prevented them from living their everyday life to the fullest.

I see therapy as a team work to go on an adventure: step into the unknown of your being! My approach is Holistic and Integrative. Holistic means that we work with different layers of your being: your physical, mental, emotional and energetical bodies. If you’re open to, we will work with breath, mindfulness, chakras, energy blocks and dreams. I have seen over and over that the process of healing is quicker when we both go beyond our minds and work with all of us. Working Integratively means that I have a tool box of different approaches and I use the one which is suitable to you at the right time.

I believe sexual expression, sexual enjoyment, intimacy and meaningful relationships are integral elements of who we are. On many occasions we don’t talk about our problems and worries because of shame. Sex and Relationship Psychotherapy is a safe non-judgmental space where we explore and work together on those issues affecting your sexuality or your relationships.

Transgender Counsellors

As a gender-diverse individual, why might I want to see a therapist who is also gender diverse?

A trans or gender-diverse client may want to see a therapist who is also trans or gender diverse because the client may feel safer sharing their experiences and more confident that the therapist will understand, validate, and support them. But trans or gender-diverse clients can also benefit from therapy with cisgender therapists; this is a personal decision based on the connection between the client and the therapist, and if that connection is strong, therapy will be successful.

What if I cannot find a therapist who shares my gender identity?

Therapy can still be effective if a therapist does not share a client’s gender identity; a large body of research indicates that the most important factor in successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. A therapist can also be interviewed for sensitivity and competence on gender identity and expression to ensure they possess appropriate knowledge and skills. Many therapists have excellent training and extensive experience working with gender-diverse clients, and that expertise can be invaluable despite a therapist not sharing the same firsthand experiences.

How can I recognise a good therapist for working with gender-diverse clients?

An experienced therapist should be able to help clients explore their gender identity and expression, alleviate discomfort related to their gender identity, treat mental health challenges and trauma, address existing relationships and communication with family members and loved ones, and determine the next steps pertaining to nonmedical or medical gender-affirming interventions. To recognise a good therapist, clients can ask about these topics and explore their comfort and connection with the clinician.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with transgender clients?

Clients should feel comfortable asking therapists directly about their experience working with transgender or gender-diverse clientele. For example, clients may ask about the therapist’s training and education with regard to gender identity, how many trans clients they’ve worked with in the past, and what sorts of matters were discussed. You may wish to inquire how a therapist specifically supports the needs of transgender clients or clients questioning their gender identity. A good clinician who is nonetheless not the right fit for you is often happy to make referrals to others based on the concerns you articulate in a preliminary conversation.
