Sometimes life can be challenging for a variety of reasons and talking things through with a trained professional can be life changing in many different ways. I am a fully qualified BACP Registered Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and Therapeutic Coach, which basically means that I will use techniques from several different types of therapy that I think are most suitable for individual clients. I’ll be focusing a lot on how you see yourself, how you relate in the world, and how I can support you to develop into being more comfortable with yourself and the world around you.I can facilitate you to understand different aspects of your life, your own behavior and the issues that are preventing you from enjoying life.

I work with survivors of boarding schools and academic hothouses. Often the strictures of these institutions, early distancing from the caregiver and the need to adapt to school/parental expectations can put the child into a survival rather than thrive mode and create difficulties for later life. These include struggles to build positive relationships including as a parent, perfectionism and at the same time feeling a failure, bullying issues, difficulties in relaxing, addictive behaviours and sleep problems. Therapy can support you to remember and reclaim parts of yourself that have got lost in your early childhood.

They interfere with our work, with our relationships and with our ability to enjoy and make the most of our lives.

Often it is helpful to understand our current difficulties through exploring past experiences and how they may have impacted upon us. Some people prefer not to think too much about the past, rather focus on managing the day to day. Everyone is different and part of the process is working out what feels most helpful for you.
