Your communication dwindles and the relationship falls apart.
I explore practical strategies that support individuals, couples and families dealing with trauma, stress, anxiety, and challenging situations. I delve into the causes of your symptoms and experiences contributing to your current feelings and behaviours. Through a supportive process, you will gain new insights into your situation and acquire new skills to help you cope and move forward. Psychotherapy is relaxed, confidential, and in a safe and friendly environment. Should you feel apprehensive about your first or subsequent sessions, you can bring a friend, parent or partner to the appointment.

I have a real passion for helping people work through their trauma, relationship difficulties and problematic family dynamics.
It can be a daunting, nervous and courageous step when accessing psychological support and reading this means that you have already thought about this, which is an achievement! It can sometimes be difficult to prioritise and give importance to our own needs, it can make us feel guilty or undeserving. However, I believe self-care and self-love, are at the root of living a healthy well-being. I have a positive working attitude and strongly believe in creating an open and honest therapeutic relationship. I use different psychological frameworks and tailor my approach to effectively support my clients with their psychological distress.

I also help people with relationship problems, depression, anxiety problems, phobias, PTSD, obsessions and compulsions, grief and loss.
Do you feel stuck, lost and alone in life? Do you feel overwhelmed by your problems and struggle to understand why you feel so unhappy and unfulfilled? Do you worry about letting people get emotionally close to you and so tend to distance yourself from others? Yet then feel isolated and deeply unhappy? Have you always felt different or as though there was something wrong with you? Do you have a longing to understand yourself and feel an emotional connection with people in your life? I have worked with many people with these kinds of problems. It is likely that you experienced emotional neglect or trauma as a child.

Every now and then life puts in front of us some obstacles that can be difficult to overcome without support. When left to our own accords these hurdles can often take us on a downward spiral, and lead us to feel insufficient, insecure, anxious, stressed or even depressed. It may be a familiar relationship that brings in the challenge or a social, behavioural, financial or work related issue. The worries that keep you up at night may be due to many reasons but if they are taking over and leave you feeling isolated in life, it might be time to seek support from someone who can help navigate through the difficult period.

I am a very experienced therapist and Depth Psychologist having worked within the NHS and Private Practice for 30 years. I am a Senior Jungian Analyst, a Training Analyst, an Examiner and Supervisor. I specialise in working with people experiencing relationship difficulties, those suffering from depression, anxiety, low self esteem and intrusive thoughts. An emotional crisis is a call for personal growth, for insight and to a new path through life. The belief that symptoms have meaning leads to a more positive approach and outcome, so that suffering is not in vain but the prelude to a more meaningful life.

With a contemporary approach, I nurture the client relationship, aware that counselling can be daunting for some, so feeling comfortable is essential to successful outcomes for my clients.
Are you unhappy in your relationship? Are you struggling to communicate? Are you having the same arguments over and over again? Has trust been broken? Do you feel disconnected to your partner? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, Positive Relationships offers a range of products including counselling sessions and online programmes to ensure that the "pain points" in your relationship are clarified and goals are set. By working collaboratively in an informal but structured process, meaningful changes can be made to ensure that the "pain points" are replaced by new, helpful and positive ways of being together

Therapy is a safe space to explore some of the confusing or difficult thoughts and feelings that arise throughout life's challenging phases. Major life transitions, relationship issues, bereavements, self-esteem, low mood or anxiety - these are all themes that are worthwhile addressing in therapy. Additionally therapy can be an investment into understanding yourself further; what causes you to think and act in certain ways as this is the gateway to facilitating meaningful and long-lasting change.

As a clinical psychologist, I specialise in offering therapy for relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, and difficulties with anger.
"Dianne helped my husband and I bridge seemingly impossible gaps in our understanding of each other and ability to communicate despite considerable differences. Dianne took us from a place where we encountered apparently unresolvable emotional blockages daily, from a place of frustration and chronic misunderstanding to a place where we were able to appreciate each other's feelings and show love to one another increasingly unreservedly. She was skilfully professional, without ever faltering in compassion or humanity. She has given us the tools we needed to succeed in our marriage and we are hugely grateful for her help. " Annon

Relationship Issues Counsellors
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
