We are all unique in our experiences and as a result we all think, feel and behave differently. As part of my role as a counsellor I will always work to understand your unique perspective and how you see the world (and why that is). I will provide a safe space for us to work together, at your pace, to explore any issues you might be facing in your life.

Is parenthood what you dreamed of? Or are you feeling like things are not quite right? Are you struggling with the weight of expectations on you? Are you feeling anxious or inexplicably sad? Maybe you can’t find your own way for the sea of other people's opinions? Perhaps you’re struggling to get through the day without feeling completely overwhelmed? Perhaps you know that you need to make the space and time to find a way forward?

Have you been feeling you're stuck in a rut, you have no one you can talk to in confidence without being judged. You may be struggling with anxiety, loss, questioning your own identity with others, leading to low self-esteem and self-worth, and with no sense of direction.

My ideal client is an adult unsure of where they are in life. They have reached a point where they do not know what lies ahead. They may be unhappy in their current relationship/job/marriage and are uncertain of which way to turn. They want to feel alive again and look forward to each and every day rather than finding life a tedious merry go round of work and chores. In short they want to get back to what they love. Life is uncertain, but there are areas of your life that you CAN control even if the world appears to be chaotic.

I think it's very brave to acknowledge when there are difficulties in your life and to embark on a journey of change. It is my privilege to accompany individuals on a therapeutic process which enables them to live a more meaningful life. Our journey together can sometimes be a brief stepping stone of goal focused support, or at other times the therapeutic process is longer term and more explorative. I am passionate about supporting neurodiverse individuals as well as individuals who have lived through adverse or traumatic life experiences. I welcome enquiries from all genders and sexualities.

I work with RELATIONSHIP CHALLENGES. So, whether you're: a mother struggling in your relationship with your child or motherhood itself; a couple in crisis; experiencing recurring relationship problems; or still searching for that elusive romantic relationship I’m keen to work with you. I work with both individuals and couples; and I can discuss with you which one of these may be the best fit for you. I find that by exploring your personal history we can often discover the root cause of your challenges so you can begin to enjoy intimacy and connection.

Most people need support at some point in their lives. You might be feeling lost, stuck, low, anxious, stressed, or experiencing your mood going up and down. Perhaps you're experiencing problems in your relationships, work life, going through a loss or significant change and feeling like you're trying to make improvements in your life but something is getting in the way. Therapy is a non-judgemental, emotionally safe and confidential space for you to explore your problems and develop deeper insight and understanding into how you are feeling and the way you behave.

We all experience difficult times in our lives and it can sometimes be difficult to cope on our own. Issues such as, anxiety, low mood, neurodiversity, family or school issues, bereavement, bullying, low self esteem and many more. During these times we could benefit from talking to a counsellor. I am BACP accredited with nineteen years experience working as a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor. During this time I have built two successful private counselling practices in East Grinstead, which I have recently expanded and now offer counselling to young people in Sevenoaks.

Sometimes life can feel challenging and often our coping strategies can stop working for us. Talking therapy can give you the opportunity to explore what it is that is troubling you in a confidential and non-judgmental environment. I will tailor the sessions to suit you and draw on different approaches as needed.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
