My name is Erica and I specialise in pet bereavement counselling. I particularly focus on addressing the often-overlooked grief that comes with pet loss. Many people, including employers, may devalue this grief, making it even harder to cope with. This can lead to feelings of shame and the need to hide your true emotions. In our sessions, I offer a safe, judgement-free space where you can honour your family member and work through your grief without feeling ashamed.

I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. My therapeutic approach is grounded in Gestalt therapy and compassion-based therapy, both of which guide my practice in fostering self-awareness, emotional healing, and personal growth.

Feeling anxious, angry, or depressed? Experiencing relationship issues? If life feels overwhelming or if something just doesn't feel right, therapy offers a safe space to be heard, supported, and understood. Whether navigating relationship challenges or seeking clarity on personal issues, therapy can provide guidance and support. With an MSc in Transactional Analysis, I advocate for inclusive and safe counselling practices.

Counselling and psychotherapy can seem mysterious to many clients, at first. My aim is to clarify the process and make it as accessible and collaborative as possible. My approach is integrative; every client is different, has different needs and therefore we work together accordingly. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where it will be possible for you to explore your concerns with relationships, work; anxiety; depression; bereavement or other emotional difficulties with the aim of rebalancing and empowering you.

Given the latest government advice all sessions will be offered online. I have ten years of experience of working in this way and I am happy to give you guidance to set this up. You will need an internet connection (preferably high speed), a headset and microphone. I can also offer telephone sessions but face to face via an online platform is preferable. Psychotherapy is about being listened to and seen in a particular way. There is nowhere else in life that offers a time and space to focus on your 'self' - your body and your mind. My Kent practice is in the village of Bridge near Canterbury and is easy to reach.

Whether you are considering a course of therapy to address specific mental health challenges, or you've experienced sudden change or loss in your life and finding it hard to cope alone, I can offer you help as you take your next step. Whatever questions need to be explored and whatever current stressors are present, I can provide you with the tools to cope more easily. My approach to my clients is one of respect and compassion. Regarding therapeutic relationship, my orientation is humanistic; I believe the relationship in itself is an essential component as it creates fertile ground from which self-discovery and transformation can take place.

Hello and welcome. Finding the right therapist can feel a bit challenging and I would encourage always to try a few different ones before you decide. You are welcome to contact me to ask any questions that you may have by email or text is the best way to do this and from there we can arrange to speak on the phone at a time that suits you. I have been coaching clients for the last 16 years. My clients have described me as easy to talk to and relaxed, though I do offer a free assessment which is a two-way meeting to see how we get along, so you can dip your toe in the counselling/therapy water with no obligation.

It might not seem it, but life is more than what you are going through right now. You could be immersed in a complex situation, or maybe need a little support. Recognising that you cannot do it by yourself if the first step to healing, to be able to enjoy life to its full capacity. I’m here to help, my name is Emma. I have special interest and experience in bereavement and loss, anxiety, “not feeling part of the group”. Unfortunately for those that have not had support, it might have led to self-harm, addiction.

Life can be hard and sometimes certain moments, times, and actions can add to this. When this happens, it can be hard to talk about it and especially to the people close to us. Sometimes we just need to talk to someone in impartial, who will not judge and just listen. I am an Integrative/Person Centered based counsellor who has experience of working with people from the age of 12 to 70 and I am here to listen to you with no judgement. I have experience of working with people who have different mental health issues and disorders.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
