We need therapy at certain stages in our life to help us process feelings and thoughts - it can provide a way to manage difficult emotions and talk about ourselves in a confidential space away from loved ones and friends. My background is in Person-Centred and Existential Counselling, and I’ve been helping people since 2004. Over the years, I’ve incorporated various theories and practices into my approach, allowing me to offer a personalised, humanistic therapeutic experience. I work with individuals and couples online using Teams or Zoom.

At times we may feel overwhelmed and unable to cope with the demands of life. Relationships with family, friends or work colleagues may be strained leaving us unhappy, anxious or depressed. When it feels as though life is getting on top of us, having a safe place to talk with a qualified counsellor can help move our lives forward. Finding a counsellor who is a good fit for you is crucial yet taking those first steps, can be daunting. To aid that process, I offer a free 30 minute telephone or Zoom call so you can better gauge whether you feel comfortable and happy for us to work together.

"There is a crack in everything - that's how the light gets in" (Leonard Cohen). I love this. We all have problems, things we don't like about ourselves, things we struggle with over and over. It's part of being human, none of us are completely 'sorted'. But sometimes we feel overwhelmed, desperate, alone.... the cracks are too big, the light isn't getting in. Or we feel stuck, frustrated, exhausted, going round in circles, nothing will ever change. Perhaps you feel you can't be the real you. Maybe you feel like this a lot, or maybe it's new for you and your usual coping/support isn't working. Maybe you don't know what's wrong.

I aim to provide a warm, supportive and consistent space to encourage you to find ways to explore your thoughts and feelings. I believe that the therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor is very important, as is the need to feel safe in the therapeutic environment. To this end I am reliable, calm, empathic and honest with my clients. Within our sessions my integrative training allows me to draw on different ideas and approaches, meaning I can tailor my work for each individual person.

When someone you love dies, the grief can be overwhelming. It can affect us emotionally andEvery day can suddenly feel like a struggle. Life can feel pointless and overwhelming. I can provide a safe, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and memories around your loved one so that you can come to terms with your bereavement whilst also gaining a better understanding of yourself, your emotions and patterns of behaviour, allowing you to make better choices and decisions going forward.

Let’s face it, shit happens. Life can change in the blink of an eye, or our choices lead us down a merry path of disappointment. Are you at a standstill, or chasing round in circles? Is it difficult to see a way through on your own? It can help to share and offload some of those burdens with someone who has your back. Therapy is an experiential process and it really helps to have someone whose job is to listen alongside.

I'm Rhian, a BABCP accredited CBT Therapist working with children and adults experiencing a range of mental health difficulties. My training and experience within education, outpatient and specialist services means that delivering therapy can be done simply and effectively. I adapt our work to your personal needs whilst keeping your goals at the heart of what we do and can also adapt for neurodiversity (ADHD and Autism). By working together, we can create lasting change not only by resolving your current issues, but by building life-long resilience through skills and understanding of what maintains our problems.

I have worked across a number of disciplines, but the last 18 years have been spent working in acute hospitals with patients, families and staff members. I have got extensive experience of working with patients with all sorts of physical health problems, including cancer and traumatic injuries. I can help people to adjust to long term conditions or come to terms with the consequences of illness and injury. I’m very experienced in helping the families of patients too and more recently have moved into supporting staff. Since the start of the pandemic I have worked specifically with people to manage work stress and life balance

I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and I care deeply about helping people work through areas of their life that they are struggling with. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space to explore your world together with me and I hope you find it is a place to feel heard and accepted. Sometimes being able to share your thoughts and feelings is the first step to unravelling the feeling of being 'stuck'.
