It might be that you have a clear sense of the issues you'd like to explore or just a sense that something is not quite right - both are excellent starting points.Currently most of my work is with clients interested in changing their lives to align with their sense of who they are, not who they should be. For some, getting a stronger sense of self is the first step in the therapy. Partly my work is also with people who have experienced one or more traumatic events, including with a PTSD diagnosis - our focus then is on processing the trauma therapeutically to reduce the unwanted symptoms that interfere with daily life.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an evidenced based therapy that helps us to understand how we think, affects how we behave, and how we feel. It is a collaborative therapy. I believe the relationship built between the therapist and client helps deliver a positive therapeutic outcome. I work with my clients to build a formulation of their difficulties using CBT skills and techniques. We work together to understand what is maintaining the problem and how we can change our thoughts, thinking styles and behaviours. We gently learn to face our fears and to stop using controlling or avoidant behaviours.

I support young people who may have learning or sensory processing difficulties, or difficulties with mood and self regulation. We work together to develop coping strategies, explore ways to help themselves calm or change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving. The aim is to be able to be kinder to ourselves, feel better and engage with the world.

I utilise a blend of positive psychotherapeutic enquiry and solution focussed approaches, to identify and reframe the cause of limiting beliefs and behaviours. I tailor my approach and work with individuals and couples. Whether you need to overcome a traumatic experience, difficulties in relationships, self esteem, anxiety or coaching to provide skills to transition through life, manage a situation or perform at your best. Building an independent, safe and trusting environment for you to explore issues and challenges in life: both work and/or personal is important for me.

Sometimes we can feel unhappy but not know why, or maybe we know why but feel unable to change. We may have physical symptoms but suspect that psychological factors underlie them. We might recognise behaviours in ourselves that may obstruct our capacity to work, or make and maintain relationships. Or we may have doubts about ourselves, an underlying feeling that we are not getting the most from life. Whatever the issue, talking can help make your problems clearer, enabling you to understand and resolve them better.

Talking therapy is my vocation and professional passion. I am of dual heritage and have a background in languages: Communicating and listening are at the heart of my practice. My training was in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Minster Centre. This approach draws from the major therapeutic schools of thought. I think about what you feel on many levels and help you to find your own understanding. Whatever you wish to share, I give you time to reflect. I also work relationally. This means that the trusting partnership we develop will allow you to notice how you relate to yourself and others.

You may have been considering therapy for a while but are hesitating or perhaps you've had previous experience and need something more. You feel something is not right but it is hard to think about or put into words? Living with high levels of anxiety, shame or fear for a prolonged period, can negatively affect the way we perceive ourselves and others. So with a compassionate approach, I work with most psychological difficulties, and have a special interest in anxiety and low mood, problematic family relationships, parenting and bereavement. I also work extensively with adolescents and welcome working with those of 16+years.

A client is a family who are struggling with a teenager and having increasing difficulty in communication and high levels of conflict. The impact would be on all members of the family and how they handle this degree of stress. It might be that there is one family member who is most distressed or concerned by the situation and are the most motivated to seek help to resolve the difficulties.
