I am a fully qualified and accredited Integrative Psychotherapist, which includes early developmental self psychology, humanistic and psychodynamic understanding.
CBT, EMDR, Psychotherapy and Counselling are options you can choose from when working with me. Life can be hard. Sometimes events happen beyond our control, these could include financial worries, experiences of loss, health concerns, relationship issues or work stress. Maybe some difficulties are longer standing from early childhood issues, abuse, trauma or living with life changing, life limiting or long term conditions.

Therapy is not a casual undertaking. It requires a sincere commitment on your part to prioritise yourself and your personal growth. Together, we will identify any blind spots you may have and we will take action by resetting those frames of reference and patterns of behaviour that are holding you back. Combining Psychotherapy, Psychology and Coaching, I practice from an integrated approach, which involves selecting techniques from different therapeutic orientations best suited to a Client's particular problem. I mainly work with Polyvagal theory, the Person-Centred approach, Attachment Theory, TA & Psychodynamic theory.

It is my belief that we all have very unique and individual reasons and circumstances surrounding our issues and that taking the step to share them with someone else can be intimidating. Which is why I am open to working in a non-judgemental way, with anyone who feels they want to share their thoughts and feelings in a safe and nurturing environment. I offer face to face or online video counselling via Zoom because I realise that not everyone wants to be in the same room as their therapist or are able to travel.

As a humanistic counsellor I work from the belief that individuals have the capacity to know what is best for them and that we all have the ability to change and grow.
Hi, I'm Tamsin and I'm a qualified integrative counsellor with experience of working with a diverse range of clients and work with both adults and children. I have a long-standing interest in mental health from studying psychology at university. After raising my own 3 children and working at a local primary school, I was inspired to gain further qualifications and experience in supporting people with their mental health issues and empowering them to move towards new pathways. I offer a genuine, warm and flexible approach to work with you in a way most beneficial and suitable for your own needs.

I am an experienced counsellor PROVIDING THERAPY IN THE OUTDOORS. Sometimes we want to talk but sitting in a counselling room might not feel like the right space for you. WALKING WHILST TALKING might just give you the space and freedom to begin to understand some uncomfortable feelings and past experiences in the safe hands of myself within nature. Being in nature will help you to learn how to resource yourself whilst processing the past giving you a clearer feel of the future. You may feel anxious or depressed, struggling with relationships. I work from Pittville Park, The Cotswolds and Crickley Hill. I also do home visits.

I wonder what it feels like to find yourself here, looking for some kind of support? Maybe you are struggling to 'make sense' of what you've been experiencing in your life recently? Many of my clients inhabit a crowded yet empty world, in which they cannot easily 'hear' themselves, or feel that they are not 'understood' by those around them. Perhaps you feel a little like this too? My first hope as a counsellor is that working collaboratively you will feel both heard and understood - maybe for the first time. When this happens, we begin to develop the inner resources needed to discover and engage with who we truly are.

Here you are, searching for something that feels right for you. So, to introduce my way of working: as a transpersonal (psychospiritual) psychotherapist, the work of psychotherapy is placed within the immense context, or ultimate reality, of oneness. As you read my words, you may be feeling anxious, depressed, sad, angry, confused, imprisoned, disconnected, numb, lost....or yet something else. However, as you read these words, I suggest you assess your readiness for the spiritual self-development I offer: a courageously self-honest, open-mindedly questioning, process of deepening awakening consciousness.

If you are looking for a safe space where you can bring what you would like to talk about, then you will find it here. I believe that people are the experts on themselves however, at times it can be useful to work alongside someone else in order to gain clarity, to feel heard or make changes to experience growth. I value the importance of the body and mind in the work we do. There are many reasons why it may be helpful to have counselling and I feel it is a privilege to work alongside people as they explore what is going on for them.

We don't always know why we are unhappy, other times we are able to identify a problem but aren’t able to deal with it alone. I create a safe space where you will be listened to, never judged and with confidentiality. I work with clients who are feeling depressed, anxious, having relationship problems or undergoing a change in life. This could be age related, changing school, jobs or a bereavement. There are clients who also feel ready to address a problem in their past which is still affecting them. Clients have spoken positively about sessions being held at Chipping Norton Health Centre. Online sessions are also available.

When life gets so difficult that it is affecting our day-to-day living, it's perhaps the time to seek professional help. Whether we're suffering from anxiety, depression, low self esteem, loss or grief, or feeling that we've lost all direction in our life and can't cope, they all can really affect us. Sometimes we can't function the way we would like to. This will get in the way or make it seem impossible for us to reach our life aims and goals. Counselling can help you, as issues are easier dealt with, by talking through them and understanding them, and having an outlet.

I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgmental space in which to talk over whatever's troubling you, either as an individual (£70) or as a couple (£85). I am also a clinical supervisor (£60). Sometimes, people think their problems aren't big enough to warrant counselling, or are too big for someone else to cope with, but if there’s something that’s getting in the way of you leading your life the way you want, we can look at that together. Or there may be one particular event in your life which is affecting you which we can explore so you get a good understanding of how it affects you, and the changes you might like to make.

I integrate several types of psychotherapy (analytic, humanistic, existential, CBT).
I see clients individually or in couples, who are suffering from all kinds of anxiety and unhappiness,or are feeling lost or stuck. You may be having problems at work, with self-esteem or in your relationship with a partner or friends. You may need to work through trauma, including bullying and relationship loss. If you are a couple, I will help you to analyze what has gone wrong; and have you learn to nurture your relationship by thinking together and working out how to support each other.

Humanistic Counsellors

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualisation and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
