Although I regularly work with clients of all ages and genders, the majority of my clients tend to be young men, who have unresolved feelings or experiences which are impacting on their daily lives. I work as an integrative counsellor, from a person-centred perspective. This means that you can bring whatever you wish to the session, while we work at your pace and depth. I employ theory and techniques from CBT, psychodynamic and other therapeutic philosophies which I feel may be useful. Where we start is not the important thing as ultimately, you will naturally discover the things that matter the most to you.

Everyone comes to therapy with a loss, whether that is a bereavement, a relationship break-up, changes in health, the loss of a friendship, a change of job, etc. There are many different endings that we go through in life. Therapy is a safe and supportive place to talk, it provides the opportunity to process what has happened and to explore who you are now and how you can move forward. Therapy is a place where you can say out loud all of those things you can't say elsewhere. You can talk about things you may not feel able to talk about with friends or family.

Do your suffer with anxiety and do you want help, then I am able to help with this. Anxiety can plague you throughout your life. If this describes you then I can help you understand the reasons why. Have you engaged in therapy before and nothing seems to work, then I can help you understand why. Do you struggle to regulate your emotions and you do not understand why, then therapy can help you explore why you have unhelpful patterns of behaviour. This may relate to early life experiences.

Starting therapy can be a difficult decision- you may feel desperate and alone but reaching out for help is the most important step on the road to recovery. I am a qualified integrative therapist who advocates for celebrating our uniqueness. The base of my sessions is always Person-Centred; to listen, offering compassion and warmth. I also offer stress, anxiety and mindfulness techniques and other therapeutic approaches were appropriate. I have worked extensively with clients suffering from a wide range of issues including trauma, anxiety, and bereavement, and have much experience of working with the LGBTQ+ community

Hi there, my name’s Sophie and I’m a Person-Centered Counsellor who works with issues around self-esteem. Low self-esteem can be so impactful, we can feel incredibly stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, a crippling need to people please, feeling unable to say no, always feeling like you’re bottom of the list with everyone and everything coming first. You may feel unheard, unseen, overlooked, taken for granted. Even a feeling of complete disconnect from yourself, unable to connect with the person you felt like you used to be or want to be and unsure of how to reach that person.

Are you feeling anxious in social situations? Do you find it hard to stop or control worry? Are you feeling low and stuck in a rut? Or experiencing low self-esteem? Perhaps you’re having panic attacks or intrusive thoughts that are worrying you. Maybe you have experienced a trauma that you’re struggling to process or a phobia you want to overcome. These common difficulties can impact on your enjoyment and achievements in life; leading to patterns of avoidance, procrastinating or a need to be in control.

You may be feeling stuck, or overwhelmed by your thoughts and feelings. You may be struggling with past experiences or what’s going on for you now. Maybe you’re figuring out what’s important to you right now and how you’d like your life to be. Your relationships with friends and loved ones may be tricky or unsatisfying. Perhaps you're finding yourself in familiar situations time and again and would like things to be different but you’re not sure how to make it happen. Whatever your unique reasons are for looking for a therapist, I imagine you’ve already been trying hard to figure things out on your own.

In therapy relationship is the most important thing, you need to feel comfortable and able to trust your therapist. I work with a lot of people that have had challenging experiences with counselling or are nervous to come to counselling. My goal is to make you as comfortable as possible. I work with a variety of mental health challenges and normally focus on achievable change. I also work with LGBTQ+ people to help them in an environment where they can feel supported and not have to worry about judgement.

Throughout life we all suffer from personal, emotional and psychological issues. Usually we overcome these but sometimes we can get stuck, tangled up and become negatively affected. If you are finding yourself experiencing anxiety or depression, or struggling with any other issues, then know that help is always available. Whatever it is, I am here to listen attentively, with empathy, without any judgement, and in complete confidence. There are multiple approaches to counselling, but rather than push a particular one (that may not be suitable for you) I prefer we work together to decide which is the best way forward for you.

I am a psychotherapist on the spectrum with ADHD. I have been late diagnosed so I can relate to NT and ND. I understand how life-changing could be for anyone to be diagnosed with Autism. I am helping people who are experiencing detachment, unexplained pain, and lack of stability. I offer a non-judgemental, welcoming space where you can find your own solutions and paths that would lead you to growth and building resilience.

At this point in your life when you are looking for therapy, you may have a hunch that the burden you carry has grown too much to hold on your own and somebody needs to hear you out. Many conversations heal, but the difference between a psychologist and a friend is that looking at things with the tools and theories we have at our disposal can help you define the problem, perhaps reframe it and then resolve it. That is the starting point for feeling better. You may wonder whether anything can really help, because everything may seem complicated and deep, but the wonder of your own self is waiting for you to unfold.

My priority is to provide a safe, non-judgemental, and confidential space for you to just ‘be’ without any expectation, so you can explore any issues or struggles that are impacting your life. You may know what these struggles are, or you may not have the words or an understanding of what is going on for you. And that is okay. You may come to therapy with a set idea of what you want to explore, or you may come to therapy with just a hunch that something isn’t right. Therapy isn’t linear but I’ll be transparent in our work together and guide you in what can be difficult but ultimately enlightening work.

If you're struggling right now, you truly can be helped. Anxiety and depression are extremely common and in a world of pressure many of us are suffering in ways that don't fit a label and often others can't see. You deserve better than that and I built my practice to ensure hope and help is available to anyone.
