In Person Counselling in Macclesfield
I’m Nicola, I work with individuals and couples trying to make sense of change in their lives. Change may be a natural part of human life, but it can be hard to understand the loss of a close relative, friend or lover or other difficult sudden events and to figure out what happens now. The emotional effects of a change can knock you off balance influencing the way you think and feel about yourself now and in the future. I have a real interest in the emotional impact of life changes and how they influence our emotions. One-to-one therapy gives you the time and place to help make sense of difficult events in your life.

We live in a world which throws a lot at us, and expects a lot of us. And, very often, we expect a lot of ourselves too. For many of us, it can help to talk through what we’re dealing with, to help us understand what’s going on and find a way forward. Whether you’re dealing with anger, anxiety, bereavement, depression, identity, loneliness, powerlessness, relationship difficulties, or simply want to talk things through, I offer a confidential, non-judgmental space to explore what you’re feeling, and how you can manage it. We’re all different and we all need to find our own way. I can help you do that.

Are you feeling stuck in your life or your relationship or feeling sad and don't know why or can't move on? Are you battling with the physical symptoms of anxiety, a tight chest, nausea? These are just some of the things I can help you with. We work to find out why you feel the way you do and then we work together on change and change that sticks. I'm passionate about helping people to not only survive but thrive. There may also be some humour.

Are your self-labels reflecting your feelings of insecurity, self-doubt, anxiety or even depression? (Self-labels might sound like 'I am stupid, an idiot, different, ridiculous, pathetic, invisible, lazy, worthless, ugly, weak, greedy' and so on) …Are these thoughts holding you back socially or emotionally? If this sounds like you or a loved one, avoidance of challenging these negative thoughts may result in self-harmful behaviours that create repetitive cycles. Counselling can result in the end of negative self-labels and result in a more positive confident self-image.
