The perinatal period can involve a complicated mix of emotions and everybody needs a little support sometimes. You may be considering a pregnancy and wondering how your experiences in childhood may impact your journey or perhaps navigating difficulties with fertility. You may be pregnant and experiencing anxiety, fear of the birth or difficulty bonding with your baby. Or perhaps you experienced a traumatic birth, are feeling sad or would like a space to consider how you adjust to being a parent. I work with all parents and offer both individual therapy and focused single-issue interventions.

As a Clinical Psychologist specialising in parental and perinatal wellbeing, I can support you as you adjust to becoming a parent, whether this is during pregnancy, after your baby is born, following a traumatic birth or when your baby has additional health needs or has required neonatal care.
You thought that becoming a parent would be exciting, but you've also felt overwhelmed, anxious and like you’re struggling to cope. There's been an expectation that you'd be happy and even ‘glowing’ but the reality has often felt very different. It has left you wondering if you’re failing or 'not doing it right' which can make it hard to say you're not OK or ask for help. If this feels like you, please know that you are not alone and that these thoughts and feelings are very common, even if they’re not often talked about.

I have supported my clients through a wide range of difficulties including: low mood, anxiety, shame, trauma, stress, difficulties associated with pregnancy and becoming a parent, relationship difficulties and low self-esteem.
I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist, which means I have completed extensive training in the assessment and treatment of mental health difficulties throughout different stages of life. My approach to therapy is warm, empathic, and genuine. It is important to me to create a space that feels safe, and where my clients feel heard and understood. Some people come to see me for help with a specific issue such as anxiety, or difficulties with managing stress at work. Others meet with me to have a space where they can be free to reflect and work towards a greater sense of understanding, and in turn compassion, towards themselves.

I have a special interest in issues around parenting, such as antenatal and post-natal anxiety and depression; still birth; miscarriage; infertility etc.
Perhaps you feel lost and upset that things are out of your control, you might be interested in counselling for something specific such as Anxiety, Depression, self-esteem/confidence, bereavement, anger and/ or you may be looking for longer-term psychotherapy. You might find yourself withdraw from people you love and having the impression no one can understand your pain. You might be at this stage of your life that you are seeking a new identity or the previous roles/ priorities you had in your life don’t satisfy you anymore.

I can support clients with: Coping with a miscarriage, postpartum depression, postpartum rage, identity issues in pregnancy/post pregnancy, boundary setting, childhood emotional neglect, experiences with racism, assimilating a cultural identity, and relocating/adapting to a new country & culture.
Hello, it can take tremendous courage to begin counselling. To help, I provide a safe, warm, caring, non-judgemental space where you can explore your current life situation. I am a qualified Psychosynthesis counsellor and member of the BACP. Psychosynthesis is an integrative and transpersonal approach to therapy which views clients as more than the issues they bring to the therapy room. It's an approach which includes the spiritual dimension of life. As a practitioner of Psychosynthesis, I aim to connect clients with their authenticity and what they feel is intrinsically true for them while exploring the issues brought to therapy.
