I work with adult individuals and couples using an open-ended ongoing approach or for an agreed time period.
The aim of therapy is to enable you to enhance your life and to live it more fully. Together we will recognise and explore patterns in yourself and others, what your triggers are and where those patterns may have originated.

Maybe you feel as though you are negotiating between intersecting parts of yourself such as your mind, body, heart and soul and you’re finding it difficult to find a balance that feels sincere to you. Perhaps this back and forth is affecting how you behave with your family, friends or partner and you’re finding it difficult to cope. You want to live a life where you can integrate more aspects of yourself and feel more whole, to hear and trust yourself, without fear of feeling shame, feeling seen or even feeling truly known by those who matter most to you.

I work integratively, where I combine approaches (such as MBT, Schema Therapy, CBT & EFT couples therapy) tailored to best fit with your needs and goals.
Are you experiencing challenges with your relationships, difficult feelings, such as anxiety or depression, or feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns in your life? Perhaps you deal with your pressures so that others around you don’t seem to notice yet inwardly feel troubled or unsettled. Or you might have had a difficult recent life event or yet to deal fully with early life experiences that are impacting you now? I’m a Senior Counselling Psychologist and accredited Mentalisation Based Therapist. I can help you, as an individual or couple, to understand what is happening at a deeper level, so you can find new ways of moving forward.

It's important to get the right support when life isn't going so well... I qualified as a counsellor and psychotherapist in 2009. I enjoy working in an integrative and collaborative way which allows me to tailor my approach to my clients needs. I believe that the most healing factor in therapy is the therapeutic relationship. I provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space to facilitate exploration and/or change. My sessions will help you to recognise your patterns, help you to heal from the past and empower you to create a happier and healthier self.

Research is really clear that the outcome of therapy is directly linked to the relationship you have with your therapist.
I’m a Clinical Psychologist, working with high achievers who struggle with high functioning anxiety, self-confidence and self-esteem, burnout, stress, and relationship difficulties. If on the surface you look like you have it all together, but the silent voice of self-doubt plagues you, then we will likely work well together. I like to work with the heart of a matter, rather than treat symptoms at a surface level. I work with both adolescents and adults, and have over 13 years experience in mental health. I have a fantastic team of Psychologists working with me, and we also specialise in ASD and ADHD assessments.

Each person is unique and distinctive and therefore one approach may not fit them all. I place the client-therapist relationship at the heart of an effective therapeutic process providing an honest and non-judgmental stance where your feelings can be expressed and contained in a safe and confidential setting. You might want to make sense of the past and explore how it can sometimes be reconstructed in the present or you might seek to get back in touch with your real self through acceptance and a better mind-body connection.

This is a collaborative work based on the therapeutic relationship we develop.
It’s not unusual to have feelings that weigh us down and reach a stage of great distress and hopelessness. Whether you feel you are in crisis or just want to get to grips with thoughts and feelings that may be disturbing you, I can help. You might feel anxiety, depression, anger or shame. You might be having relationship problems or going through big changes in your life like the loss of a loved one or a job that have a big impact on you and you need help to cope with. Or there may be something inside you that you have lived with for some time and that gets in the way and prevents you from leading a fuller and happier life.

I help both couples and individuals deepen their understanding and make changes in their lives and relationships.
Do you find yourself following the same destructive patterns again and again and not understand why? Perhaps you feel intensely anxious, lonely, angry or misunderstood by those around you or have a feeling of being at odds with yourself in day-to-day life. You may find yourself in a relationship which feels emotionally dangerous or where communication has completely broken down. Therapy can offer a way out of these painful patterns.

Psychological research consistently demonstrates that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the primary indicator of positive outcome.
There are many reasons why people seek psychological support, perhaps they feel stuck in one or more areas of their life or they have noticed unhelpful and hurtful patterns of being, both with themselves and others, and would like this to be different. People may want to better understand where these patterns come from and how they can change. Often life can ‘look good on paper’ and yet a person can feel unhappy or that something is lacking in their life. In therapy we can explore what might be underlying a sense of discontent or unease.

I’m also a Certified EFT Couples therapist.
Hello and welcome. I’m here to help you find the inner strengths you need to unblock what’s troubling you and move on with your life. My clients tell me I’m warm, kind and insightful – which is good, because my main aim is to offer a safe, welcoming place where you feel willing and able to consider making changes. Most of us aren’t used to reaching out for professional support. We’re brought up to think asking for help can be a sign of weakness. But whatever you’re facing, working together with a professional therapist can let you see a way forward.

Providing a non-judgemental ear and building an honest and open relationship I have witnessed many move from a place of self-judgment to self-compassion.
I am warm and listen with attention and care. I am also not afraid to challenge negative beliefs and behaviours if they are unhelpful. With me, you will have a true experience of healing and understanding in a deep and authentic relationship. Through my own counselling following a loss, I learnt how valuable therapy can be in helping people to heal and to live a fuller and happier life. It opened my eyes to a new way of seeing things and I enjoy enabling this liberating possibility for others in my work.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
