Although most people turn to therapy due to significant turning points like loss or bereavement, betrayal, conflict or a perceived defeat, others recognise their need to begin psychotherapeutic treatment due to feeling bewildered, unable to deal with unexpected low mood or experiencing anxiety. Most notice changes in their behaviours, including more frequent arguments, increased avoidance of tasks or proximity to others, or sudden inability to control their routine and schedule. No matter how you encounter change, ego therapy offers a bespoke approach to supporting your emotional development and personal transformation.

My clients are typically people with intercultural background - individuals, couples or groups. They might be facing challenges related to significant change – moving between different countries/cultures, change in their relationship status or professional roles. They might be going through challenging times in life and facing difficult choices: infidelity, separation, empty nest syndrome. We work in their first or second language - English, Russian or Bulgarian. And even if I don’t speak your native tongue, as someone who is multilingual, I understand the challenges and gifts that come with bilingualism and multilingualism.

I am Relate trained specialising in Relationship and Sex Therapy. In order to keep our relationships healthy we need to attend to them to ensure they remain respectful, trusting, sexual and happy. Because of the busyness of day to day life, we can easily disconnect from our partners without realising it leading to a lack of communication, conflict, affairs, and dissatisfaction. When married, or when children are involved, these problems become even more complex. It might even be that since the country's lockdown, you are now realising there are issues in your relationship. Now could be a good time to resolve these.

As a psychosexual therapist I work with both individual clients and intimate partners (including polyamorous relationships) where the primary concern is a sexual function or a relationship issue. Some of the most common reasons for attending therapy might include erectile dysfunction, painful intercourse, premature or delayed ejaculation or difficulty achieving orgasm. Relationship issues I can help with include infidelity, desire discrepancy, compulsive sexual behaviours, conflict, communication difficulties. Sometimes couples wish to explore specific sexual interests such as kinks, or navigate how to open up their relationship.

I offer confidential and creative psychotherapy to individuals and couples. I work worldwide using Zoom, and in-person in London, UK. My clients usually arrive to work through a difficulty – including anxiety and depression, situations with relationships and sex, issues with alcohol or drugs, loss, recent or historic abuse, betrayal, self-esteem, anger, or a sense of being directionless or stuck. I respect the urgency of the situation – the need to find a way through – and the need for that way to be sustainable and authentic to who you are.

Infidelity Counsellors
How does therapy for infidelity work?
A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.
How long does therapy for infidelity take?
Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.
How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?
When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.
How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?
Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
