Life can be overwhelming sometimes. During therapy, I will work in supporting you through challenging times and I will teach you skills that will allow you to deal with difficult emotions in a more flexible way. Understanding that your thoughts are not necessarily the truth is a truly liberating experience and I will help you to gain emotional responsibility and be more in control of the emotions that may be disturbing you. As everyone experiences negative emotions differently, I work best by tailoring the sessions to your specific needs using a range of different tools and techniques. Fees: £60 online session, £70 in-person.

It can be incredibly difficult to navigate life's challenges on your own. Having a confidential space for you to talk can be the first step towards making positive changes in your life. I offer a supportive therapeutic relationship in which you can find safety and acceptance. Together we can create a reflective and empathetic environment where you will be able to explore what troubles you. Here, all of your feelings are welcome. We might seek to understand the relationship between past and present, your wishes, losses, hopes, and fears.

You may be looking for a counsellor at the moment because there is a particular feeling or issue that is troubling you, or you may want to understand aspects of your personality, or relationships, a little better. You might be feeling stuck, or anxious, overwhelmed perhaps. I will provide a warm, receptive environment where you can talk about what is going on for you, and also explore how it is affecting you. Through this exploration, you will come to a deeper understanding of yourself and how you manage your life. It is through this deeper understanding of ourselves, that we are able to develop and move forward positively.

I am a highly effective Therapist, who works on the basis that the problems we are struggling with can very often be traced back to our past relationships and experiences. Welcome. I am an Art Psychotherapist and also provide talking therapy. It can feel hard to cope when low, anxious or confused, particularly after traumatic experiences. Art making in therapy can aid expression of problems that cannot be put into words, however you may feel more comfortable talking through issues. Bringing awareness to and working through difficult feelings aids healing and personal growth. I provide an empathic holding space in which you can explore at your own pace. My experience includes work with neurodiversity, loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, identity, attachment and relationship difficulties.

Life can be so hard, and sometimes the ups and downs we experience are overwhelming, and we don’t know how to manage what we are going through. I cannot take away or change anybody’s difficult life circumstances; but we can work together to try and find a way to help increase your own capacity to cope when life gets tough. I offer a range of different counselling approaches. These include but are not limited to, traditional person-centred counselling where you will be offered a safe space to bring whatever you would like to in a non-judgmental environment and really feel heard and seen;

In my practice I have been specialising in anxiety and dread. These symptoms can manifest in many ways and, we will experience them in our unique way. Perhaps you are dealing with relational difficulties, sense of inadequacy, or feeling not good enough. Working from home and managing your personal life alongside might be challenging and at times almost unbearable. Internal and external conflicts, personal crisis can also be an opportunity for growth and change if addressed in an empathic way by a non-judgemental other. I will help you transform your symptoms into a meaningful experience and help you alter the self-narrative.

In a real dark night of the soul it is always three o’ clock in the morning - F. Scott Fitzgerald. Insomnia is a 24 hour condition which erodes one’s ability to lead a fulfilling life. Most people live with insomnia for an average of ten years before seeking help. I recognize how bad things must be for you to be here. Despite the complexity of the initial cause of insomnia and its impact on your life, I offer a brief but highly effective treatment. It will demand a lot from you, but if you are determined for things to change I am here to help. I also offer webinars for loved ones of those struggling with insomnia.

To say a bit about myself, I’m trained at Masters (MSc) level in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy. I've managed a mental health team (Student Support and Wellbeing) at University College London, worked at Waterloo Community Counselling, within an NHS multidisciplinary team working with survivors of child sexual abuse and a men’s residential unit which delivers personalised support for men with complex mental health needs. My style of working is psychodynamic. In its simplest form, this involves thinking about how your past impacts your current lived experience.

Taking the step to work with a therapist can be an enriching experience with rewarding benefits. At some point in life we all endure struggles, suffering or loss. At times we are able to manage life's adversities, but sometimes feelings can become too overwhelming and we can get a bit stuck. Talking to a therapist, someone who is impartial with no previous involvement in our lives, can help make sense of the discomfort, pain or distress we are facing.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
