I work with people who feel stressed, depressed, anxious, or perhaps a little bit lost and need some help to relax, feel more self confident and balanced, and more able to cope and enjoy their life more happily. We can all feel down, depressed, and lost at times, but with gentleness, patience, and support it can be changed. Some of my clients just need some help getting clear on their aims and goals and taking actions to get there. Some clients need more ongoing support to help them cope with day-to-day stresses, and also with building their self confidence and self esteem.

Hello, my name is Michelle, I am a qualified and registered integrative therapist. As an Integrative Psychotherapist I use a variety of different approaches, drawing on whatever seems most helpful to you. This allows me to adapt my way of working to each client’s individual needs. I very much view therapy as a collaborative process, where both therapist and client contribute, and the main focus is on building a supportive and trusting relationship. As an integrative therapist I am trained in three main therapeutic frames, the Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

I am a psychotherapist and supervisor and have been working with individuals and groups for the last twenty years. For several years I was on the training committee at AGIP including two years as chair. I am currently the course leader for the Guild's diploma in psychoanalytic supervision. I would describe my orientation as psychoanalytic from within a contemplative perspective. By this I mean that I subscribe to the idea of an unconscious and believe events and attitudes from early life can impact on our lives today. I understand that an awareness of these currents helps to increase the choices available to us.

I am a Psychotherapist with a background in Psychology. If you are reading this it is possible that you are experiencing unwanted emotions such as anxiety, sadness, fear, anger, emptiness, shame, guilt (to name but a few), which almost certainly is leading to unwanted behaviours such as withdrawal, poor communication and harsh self-criticism that makes your self-esteem decrease. These are maybe affecting your relationships with family members, with friends, with work colleagues and even affecting your romantic relationships. If this is what is happening to you and you want to change this, you are in the right place.

Well done you! Thank you for prioritising your mental health and taking the time to read my profile. Life can be challenging; sometimes, we just need someone to accompany us and provide a space for ventilation and reflection. This is why I adopt a non-pathological, non-judgmental, client-led approach to my practice. This means I do not see you as a problematic patient or judge the issues you bring. Nor do I consider myself a superior therapist or a saviour. Instead, I see myself as a companion on your healing journey. You guide me on how best I can support you.

I offer an integrative approach to therapy in order to support clients to identify and explore their difficulties, with the aim of working towards a more balanced and fulfilling life. Drawing primarily on psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural models of therapy, I aim to facilitate greater understanding and meaningful change. Whether you are experiencing a clearly defined difficulty (low mood, relationship difficulties), finding yourself stuck in unhelpful patterns or stagnant in life in general, I work relationally with individuals and couples to identify blocks and make active changes.

We're currently living in volatile, complex and uncertain times. Our senses are increasingly overloaded with external stimuli and our internal world is often the first to suffer the consequences. In the digital age amidst a culture of comparison you may find yourself feeling stressed, depressed and anxious. Together we’ll tackle the question of how you can live as a 21st century human being in better health, balance and happiness.

I am an emotional focussed couple and family systemic psychotherapist, body dramatherapist, and clinical supervisor. I have 40 years' experience in mental health settings and 30 years in private practice. I am a warm, empathic therapist and highly value my relationship with my clients. I go on exploratory journeys with clients, with them leading and together we make meaning and sense as we navigate through difficulties and worries and at times having fun along the way. At some point the therapy stops at an agreed moment by the client when they feel they have reached a more comfortable place in their life and in their relationships.
