I believe that the most important part of therapy is the relationship between client and therapist, and this relational process enables developmental growth and change.
Fully qualified, BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist with over 18 years experience of working with individuals, couples and groups. Some people simply feel there is "something wrong" and want a space to explore their thoughts and feelings. I offer a non-judgemental, supportive and confidential space that will allow you to explore and gain an understanding of the feelings or situation that is causing you unhappiness.

At certain points in everyone lives, there comes a time when life, work, family, loss, or the unhelpful ways you cope with stress can become overwhelming. I have worked with many people for over sixteen years who have experienced relational difficulties, I have experience in working with people who suffer with anxiety, depression, work related stress, relationship difficulties, addiction and addictive disorders, bereavement and loss. People who have been in recovery from addiction, and young people who have found self-isolation and lockdowns from Covid-19 too much to manage. Even though everyone has stopped talking about Covid.

I am an integratively trained, relational therapist.
Searching online for a therapist can be a daunting prospect. If you have made it this far you have taken a huge step, in acknowledging to yourself that you may need support. I can help you now in taking the next steps towards feeling ‘un-stuck’ and able to move forward with your life. You might be here because something is bothering you or you have experienced a major life event. Maybe a relationship in your life has ended or changed. There are also times when life seems to be going well, but you are still feeling low, depressed or not yourself.

I am a relational integrative counsellor and psychotherapist.
Starting therapy can be daunting. Perhaps you’re struggling with low self-esteem, low moods or anxiety. Maybe you find that you often put others first or struggle to set boundaries. Maybe you’re in a place to explore and learn about yourself. My role is to facilitate a relationship based on mutual trust, where we can explore your sense of self, process old and new conflicts, and begin to learn how to manage any difficulties you may have.

Thus when you arrive I approach it in a relational way, getting to know you as you are in the present moment and woking from there.
Feeling stuck? The causes can be many: relationship issues, redundancy, bored in the job or even things sometimes termed as “mental illness.” I use that last term carefully because though it can help define the symptoms, if often fails to get at the human story beneath which is always there and needs addressing as well as any medical issues. In my sessions my aim is to help you past what eve holds you back into a better life- whatever that means to you.

I am an integrative psychotherapist who is warm and relational, bringing curiosity and creativity to working with you. I facilitate clients to discover the resources inside them to move through life's struggles. Difficult, painful, or confusing experiences can feel hard to make sense of alone, so having space to explore them in new ways and perspectives can help process and digest what is happening. Whether you are feeling stuck, anxious or restricted in your current situation, I provide a safe space for you to reconnect to your inner capacity to live the life you chose with understanding and vitality.

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and I work with depression, anxiety, early relational trauma, relationship difficulties, abuse, attachment issues, low self-esteem, life transitions and bereavement. I firmly believe in the power of human connection and that fostering a supportive and nurturing environment is essential for healing and personal growth, while also understanding that true transformation often requires stepping out of the comfort zones to embrace challenges. I aim to create a dynamic and empowering therapeutic experience, a space for both vulnerability and exploration.

I believe therapy is a relational and collaborative space, with you at the centre.
If you are here because you feel…Consumed by anxious and self-critical thoughts, Trapped in rumination loops, Stuck in the past, Disconnected from who you are and those around you, Unfulfilled in life and your relationships, Overwhelmed by stress which is blocking you from living a meaningful and connected life...Then I’m glad you’ve found yourself here! I'm Alex! I am a passionate, genuine, and collaborative therapist, and I strongly believe in empowering my clients through insight and internal healing work

I work in a way that is empathic and non-judgmental, and can offer a therapeutic space that is deeply kind and supportive, and also challenging when that is helpful for relational growth.
Relationships hold the potential to bring joy into our lives. They can also be deeply complex. It is common for us to all to have elements of our relationships that feel natural and aligned, and other parts that feel painful or difficult. I specialise in supporting individuals and couples understand the way they relate with themselves, with each other, with others around them, and with the wider world. Together in therapy we can explore the challenges you are facing and find ways forward. We can do this with deep consideration for your identity: your family, culture, upbringing, sexuality, gender, and your experiences in life so far

Relational Counsellors

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioural or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioural therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
