We all face times when life feels overwhelming and we can't seem to find a way forward. You may be feeling anxious or depressed, you may be experiencing relationship difficulties or feel stuck in unhelpful patterns from the past. As an integrative counsellor, I offer a warm and safe space where you can speak freely about whatever is troubling you. Developing a supportive therapeutic relationship with my clients is at the heart of my work. I believe it's the relationships we forge in life that allow us to grow. I also believe that, however great the challenges we face, we all have it within us to change our experience.

I'm a trauma psychotherapist with over 11 years experience and over 18 years mentoring experience. Working somatically, relationally and collaboratively I support you to find balance between building trust & safety, whilst providing enough challenge to find deep lasting change from long standing painful relational patterns. Specialising in trauma, including relational trauma, family dysfunction, childhood and adult sexual trauma. Working with mind, body, soul and spirit, I view the human experience through a holistic lens - you are not a person who needs to be fixed, but have wounds that need attending to.

I am a BACP registered integrative therapist with experience of working with a range of issues including anxiety, intrusive thoughts, bereavement, boarding school survival, childhood trauma and difficulties in every-day relationships. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the arts for 30 years, so I bring that experience too. Life can be really challenging. Whether in a time of personal crisis or simply wanting to understand yourself better, therapy provides the opportunity, in a confidential space, to talk through some of those challenges, to find a space for you and your feelings, to begin to live the life you want to live.

Clicking through profiles can feel bewildering, especially when something is wrong and you're suffering. After all we rarely seek therapy for the sake if it. You’ve likely been struggling for a while, living with an uncomfortable feeling but something has now tipped the scale. Meaningful therapy has a purpose. It’s aim is to relieve you of your pain. So, finding a relationship where you feel trusting enough to speak freely, can be transformative. To experience yourself connected and in deep conversation, expressing feelings you might otherwise avoid sharing. Feelings that have been silenced, ignored, minimised or negated.

To me, psychotherapy is the opportunity to explore, and eventually accept yourself fully – to deepen your understanding of yourself, your responses, and your relationship with the people and the world around you. A process of awareness that can help you learn and heal from the trauma of your past. I had an unusual upbringing with very 'alternative' parents (hence the name) which meant that I was exposed to many weird and wonderful people, ideas and experiences from an early age. This came with its ups and downs, but fundamentally it has helped me develop a deep understanding of what it means to be human.

I provide a one-to-one, face-to-face counselling and personal development service. The setting is a safe, comfortable, quiet and confidential place where you can explore and gain a deeper understanding of the issues you bring to counselling. I will support you in finding your own solutions to the problems that prevent you from leading a satisfying and resourceful life. My way of working recognises the similarities and differences between people, because no two people will react to the same situation in the same way. I use an integrative approach, drawing from psychodynamic, person-centred and trans-cultural theories of counselling.

Do you struggle with anxiety, depression or loneliness? Or do you perhaps suffer from low self-esteem, and struggle to find purpose in life? Are your relationships fulfilling for you, or do you struggle to have meaningful and satisfying connections with others? Perhaps you've experienced loss of some kind, and are nursing a broken heart. Whatever it is, life sometimes has a way of throwing us challenges that can make us feel small or inadequate. The important thing is that you desire to take the first step on the path towards healing and self-discovery.

I believe therapy is transformative. I provide a holding and supportive space where all feelings, thoughts and experiences are welcome. I am an integrative counsellor: I draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches depending on your needs. Exploring integration can also mean where our socio-political-cultural context shapes or meets our inner narratives. I adopt an intersectional perspective that invites GSRD and cross-cultural experiences. I maintain a creative, somatic practice and this can feature in therapy when the talking cure feels limited: where the non-verbal feels prevalent or when a ‘rehearsal for life’ feels useful.

you have ended up here... so let me just say that whatever you are going through can be surmounted... whatever need, issue or goal you have, you have all the resources you need to reach there... and I am confident that I can collaborate with you and help you get to that 'place' on the other side whereas this need, issue or goal can either be gone, managed or achieved...

I think we sometimes come to therapy not knowing exactly what it is that's causing us pain. Maybe we feel fear, anger, confusion or just a sense of detachment from who we feel we used to be or could be; sometimes it is only symptoms (such as addictions, eating disorders, OCD) which we can identify. Past, unaddressed, trauma may be arsing or you might be experiencing family or work issues or, maybe, you’re in grief (from a death/relationship breakdown). Whatever your reason for wanting therapy I know that, ultimately, we want to feel better than we do right now.

Perhaps you’ve felt stuck for a while, or have been feeling that something isn’t right but can’t quite identify what that is. You may be anxious, depressed, have low self-esteem. Maybe you are struggling in relationships, or finding it difficult getting your needs met? You may have often felt that you don’t belong, or that you’re not supposed to be doing the work you do. Perhaps you’d like to feel less frustrated, angry or alone? You may be experiencing grief, or struggling with addiction, you might have low libido, or want to explore your sexuality. It might be a family or historic issue you’d like to make sense of. I can help.

We specialise in supporting people who are highly sensitive and experience difficulties regulating emotions. Our intensive programme in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy equips people, whose challenges get described as “borderline personality disorder" in the medical world, with robust skills to recognise and manage overwhelming emotions and impulsive behaviours. Mentalization-Based Therapy is another twice weekly programme we offer which is of particular relevance to those who would like to identify and work through thinking and behavioural patterns of relating to themselves and others that no longer serve them.
