Have you been feeling nervous, anxious or on edge? Do you experience unwanted, intrusive thoughts or worries? Some of your concerns may include rumination, panic, OCD and related symptoms e.g. checking/repetitive behaviours. You also may be experiencing other related issues such as shyness, low mood, health worries, sleep problems, work stress/burn out, pain management, perfectionism and self esteem. Additionally I offer Schema Therapy as an alternative to CBT to address reoccurring longstanding issues with aim of changing old patterns of thinking and develop healthier ways of coping. I have a LGBTQIA+ and AuDHD affirming practice.

MA Psych. After a few sessions clients often say 'I don't know how it's changed, but I'm aware that I now have more control over my life, and more options'. I believe this results from my combination of support, listening, suggestions and deep belief in the power of therapy and change. Depression, anxiety, specific issues and fears, toxic past and present thinking. Using CBT exercises I share ways of doing things better. I work with individuals and couples - for 2 years I worked for Relate, the relationships organisation.

Sometimes in life you arrive at a point where you know that you need some help. The problems that you are facing are too much for you to overcome on your own. In particular, if you are a young adult, you are confronted with a unique set of challenges that needs someone who understands those challenges and has experience in helping you navigate your way through them. Whether it is bullying, or a feeling that you don't fit in, or whether it is depression and anxiety, stress or relationship problems or problems to do with gender and sexuality, I can offer you a safe place to explore these issues.

I work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, past or present trauma, and LGBTQIA+ related issues; I am also very interested in the impact of shame and its influence on a person's life. Life can bring many challenges where you may feel overwhelmed. It may be a specific life event, relationship problems or work related stress; or an ongoing anxiety, depression or low mood that concerns you. Perhaps you have questions of identity? Or perhaps feel your life is lacking purpose? Life can be difficult to navigate and this is where counselling can support you.

Body Psychotherapy is a holistic form of psychotherapy which naturally incorporates the body within the psychotherapeutic process. Our life experiences are experienced in the mind, and also felt, sensed and held in our bodies. As in other forms of psychotherapy, we work together to understand and therapeutically work through the issues you face. Together, we explore your skills and talents that you can utilise and explore the ability and capacity to heal, develop self-awareness and open the way for new modes of being. The support, growth and transformation occur through the quality of the relationship we form together.

We specialise in supporting people who are highly sensitive and experience difficulties regulating emotions. Our intensive programme in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy equips people, whose challenges get described as “borderline personality disorder" in the medical world, with robust skills to recognise and manage overwhelming emotions and impulsive behaviours. Mentalization-Based Therapy is another twice weekly programme we offer which is of particular relevance to those who would like to identify and work through thinking and behavioural patterns of relating to themselves and others that no longer serve them.

Warm, intuitive and collaborative therapist increasingly specialised in helping millennial and Gen Z clients with life transitions, low self esteem, feeling lost, feeling stuck (particularly in patterns of thought, depression and anxiety) and the specific challenges of working in the arts & creative industries. My approach is attentive, calm and transparent, always led by you and your agenda as we unpack the difficulties you are facing. Ultimately, I see our working together as a robust, collaborative dialogue about your situation – a quest we’re on together, through the challenges you’re facing towards a more meaningful life.

As a Coach and Psychotherapist, I look to work with anyone seeking constructive support. I work with clients across a spectrum of experiences, from struggling to thriving, drawing on a breadth of skills to meet the needs of the person. My Psychotherapy style involves creating a warm and personable environment in which we can collaborate to find what is important. I believe in cultivating the positive as much as understanding the challenging. Through Coaching, I can help people discover and cultivate their sense of purpose. Blending a focus on strengths with addressing challenges.

The last few years have been difficult for many. I work with adults who are finding it hard to cope with the challenges life presents, perhaps, anxiety and stress, relationship issues, loss and bereavement, depression or sadness. I also work with people who are struggling in their work or career. I offer both individual and relationship counselling. Sometimes my clients feel overwhelmed and seek opportunity to offload, sometimes they want to dig deeper in order to gain some insight into their lives with a view to making changes. I'm an experienced counsellor and I also work as a supervisor to other counsellors.

Stuck, confused, overwhelmed, anxious or depressed? Struggling with a relationship, bereavement, job loss, parenthood, or parents? Perhaps you don’t know your exact problem, only that something isn’t right. My role is to help clients explore their issues, gain insight, clarity and understanding, then support them as they move towards change. Working together, we explore where they are now, how they got there, where they’d prefer to be, and how they might do things differently.

Do you feel like you are not in control of your life? Trauma and PTSD come in many different shapes. You might feel numb. You might feel overwhelmed by anxiety, fear, shame, guilt and anger, and struggle to manage your emotions. You might feel triggered and experience flashbacks. You might struggle with low self-esteem and find trusting other challenging. You might fight nightmares and memories, and constantly feel deprived of sleep. Sometimes you might feel that there is no purpose or pleasure in life.

Male Counsellors

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
