Stuck, confused, overwhelmed, anxious or depressed? Struggling with a relationship, bereavement, job loss, parenthood, or parents? Perhaps you don’t know your exact problem, only that something isn’t right. My role is to help clients explore their issues, gain insight, clarity and understanding, then support them as they move towards change. Working together, we explore where they are now, how they got there, where they’d prefer to be, and how they might do things differently.

Currently working via ZOOM, I am a psychotherapist and counsellor with consulting rooms in Highgate in north London and Harley Street in central London. My approach is integrative. This means that I work with a wide range of psychotherapeutic theories. Each provides its own valuable perspective and is enhanced when carefully integrated with another. The term 'integrative' also refers to the process of integrating the personality, taking disowned aspects of the self and bringing them into awareness, therefore reducing the need for self-defeating defence mechanisms and behaviour.

Talking through problems is a good thing to do, but sometimes we know that those closest to us aren’t necessarily the easiest or best to hold all that we are thinking and feeling. Therapy can fill that space within a context of safety, trust and empathy. I am a qualified integrative therapist with experience of working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds. For me, the key is in ensuring that you feel heard and understood so that in turn, you can discern the right steps forward that you want to make in your own life.

Clicking through profiles can feel bewildering, especially when something is wrong and you're suffering. After all we rarely seek therapy for the sake if it. You’ve likely been struggling for a while, living with an uncomfortable feeling but something has now tipped the scale. Meaningful therapy has a purpose. It’s aim is to relieve you of your pain. So, finding a relationship where you feel trusting enough to speak freely, can be transformative. To experience yourself connected and in deep conversation, expressing feelings you might otherwise avoid sharing. Feelings that have been silenced, ignored, minimised or negated.

I work with children and young people, specialising in anxiety and OCD. I help them learn new skills and attitudes to improve their ability to handle difficult thoughts and feelings and do more of what matters to them and make more room for connection. Mental health challenges encroach on their lives, make them avoid and make their world smaller. They disconnect from themselves, the things they care about and the people that matter to them. They underestimate their strengths and resources, overestimate life’s challenges and get stuck.

Body Psychotherapy is a holistic form of psychotherapy which naturally incorporates the body within the psychotherapeutic process. Our life experiences are experienced in the mind, and also felt, sensed and held in our bodies. As in other forms of psychotherapy, we work together to understand and therapeutically work through the issues you face. Together, we explore your skills and talents that you can utilise and explore the ability and capacity to heal, develop self-awareness and open the way for new modes of being. The support, growth and transformation occur through the quality of the relationship we form together.

I help people to feel better about themselves and empowered to make positive changes to their lives. Being truly heard (perhaps for the first time) by someone who will never judge, dictate to, or betray you, can be a profoundly healing experience. With growing trust and commitment, negative thoughts and feelings can be explored, understood and overcome. Regrets about the past and fears for the future can be replaced by fulfilment in the present.

Conducting over 5,000 sessions of therapy I have helped my clients explore a huge range of emotional, relational, sexual or traumatic material to try and make sense of what those experiences have meant for them, how they have impacted them, and what they want to do about them going forward. No subject is off limits, no feelings unwelcome, and no challenge too big or small to be worth exploring safely and gently.

Male Counsellors
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
