Hello there and welcome to my profile. Clients are always welcome to bring any issue to therapy, no matter how big or small they may feel it is and would like support with their issue. They have a desire for change. They've come to therapy because they would like to explore, understand themselves better, their issue and the emotions surrounding it. To process what is or has happened. To make a real lasting impact. I offer a competitive rate because I truly believe that therapy should be as accessible as possible.

Modern dynamic therapies can help you overcome many types of psychological problems.
I am very good at treating people with Anxiety, Depression, Personality Disorders, as well as those with traumatic experiences. I apply a very modern and effective type of dynamic psychotherapy called Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). I work on repressed feelings and emotions and help you to get rid of the pain and suffer to become a mature personality. For most people, psychological stress and unresolved traumas are so overwhelming that often leads to many other problems, such as low perfor mance, low confidence, unpleasant encounters and a gradual destruction of well-being. If left untreated, these psychological issues can be transferred from one generation to the next, due to its lasting effects on children. Modern treatments in psychotherapy can help you overcome many types of psychological problems. People suffering from these problems can be helped to regain their sense of pride, efficiency, and effectiveness. My clients need to be well motivated, and cooperative.

I'm a fully qualified and accredited psychotherapist, who has many years of experience of working with people to help them feel better about themselves.
Finding a psychotherapist can be daunting, and very confusing, with a lot of terminology and names that might feel complicated and mystifying. My view is that therapy doesn't need to be so confusing and shrouded in secrecy and strange names. To put it simply, I offer you the chance to talk about whatever might be troubling you in total confidence at the same time, on the same day, in the same place, every week. That consistency, alongside the relationship we will develop, is all part of the healing process that therapy can provide.

If you have found your way to this page, there is every possibility that you are looking for help in some way. Life challenges us in unexpected ways and sometimes we might need more support to find our way through. You may be feeling a loss of meaning, or experiencing symptoms such as depression, anxiety, addiction or grief. Or you may be ready to continue with your own journey of self-awareness. I strongly believe that there is a wisdom and resilience in each person, but it can often be hidden. The therapeutic relationship is key to recovering our resources.I integrate Psychotherapy and body-centred approaches to healing.

I am a Chartered Principal Clinical Psychologist whose approach to therapy is psychodynamic, focusing on understanding a person’s individual experience of the world and the problems they’ve come to live with. This involves us working together to try to understand the particular meaning of one’s difficulties and troubling feelings and how and why such distressing experiences have occurred at this point in life. Such understandings often help people feel less troubled and ‘stuck’, for example with depression, anxiety or traumatic experiences, clearing the way for the changes that have been longed-for but remained elusive.

I feel blessed to be working with a client base from millennials dealing with enormous vulnerabilities around mental health issues in dealing with a changing , de manding world to high achieving professionals looking at a work/life balance and more mature clients dealing with loss, change and health concerns.
I offer a warm, non judgemental space which allows you to examine issues around health and stress, relationships, anxiety, workplace issues, self confidence, trauma and stuck behavioural patterns. I work consistently with clients on issues around addictive behaviours and work with individuals and groups in recovery from alcohol and drug abuse. No problem is ever too small and it is often the ones you feel embarrassed to bring that are key to unlocking the problem.

Individuals: I help clients discover more about themselves as they work through issues and events that are keeping them stuck. Mostly we will engage in weekly talk therapy; but you might draw, write, or do exercises that explore different parts of you, your family, or specific life events. Couples: It may be a change in life circumstances, an affair, or perhaps repetitive arguing that brings you here. I will bring my skills and experience to help you move to the next phase of your relationship, whether that is to reconnect, or separate, if that's what you want.

Male Counsellors

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
