I offer creative, client-centred therapy for lasting change; reconnect to health, motivation, meaning & joy. I use a variety of approaches, based on what best suits each client including talking, clarifying personal narrative, working through the body using movement and physicality, using art materials, etc. Most sessions combine several modes at once. I emphasise observing the specificity of individual experience, past and present, and using that as a springboard from which to initiate change and fulfill desires for the future.

With over 15 years experience, every single client I worked with was ideal to me, as being unique, with his/her story, difficulties, weaknesses but also strengths. At times clients come to therapy with a specific goal, other times they do not have a clue, and this is part of the process. If a client is now reading my profile, he/she may be struggling with a recent or more long-standing emotional distress, not able to sleep, concentrate, work, relate to others, etc. He/she may be worrying about what to say to a psychologist; what to expect; possibly fearful of being judged, not understood; if the psychologist would be good enough...

People seek therapy when they are dissatisfied or unhappy and feel that it is possible to make changes but this is very difficult alone. Psychotherapy is a particular type of conversation exploring thoughts, feelings and relationships. Psychotherapy offers the opportunity to think about what is troubling in a safe setting to understand and improve relationships, both with ourselves and others. My thinking and approach places relationships at the heart of experience. When patterns in relationships can be understood we can feel liberated to change.

I understand that seeking therapy can be daunting but if you are at the stage in your life where you need the space to explore painful feelings, it may well help you come to terms with or make sense of things like: absence, loss, uncertainty, anger, fear, isolation and accept or make the changes that are right for you. I won't tell you which way to turn but I will offer you the right therapeutic relationship which feels safe to explore yourself and your world of feelings. Psychotherapy and counselling are immensely helpful tools when life challenges us beyond what we can cope with: the sudden loss of a job, the breakup of a relationship or the loss of a loved one. But even when we are not dealing with something that big and may simply feel adrift, or like we are struggling to reconnect to a sense of enthusiasm either professionally or personally, psychotherapy and counselling can help us to see these crises as opportunities for growth and change; portals to go beyond the limitations set by old patterns which no longer serve us, so that we may evolve into a better version of ourselves.

The primary goal of psychotherapy is to facilitate individual development, whereby "a person becomes who they have always been." Jungian psychotherapy is a particular form of therapy in which the therapist and client work together to increase the patient's consciousness, move towards psychological equilibrium and wholeness, and bring relief and meaning to psychological suffering. This process can treat a wide range of emotional disorders such as depression and anxiety, as well as help anyone seeking psychological growth.

Are you feeling stuck? Like you are just going through the motions, living in autopilot? Maybe you feel on edge, overwhelmed, and like your emotions are going to spill over at any time. Maybe you swing from feeling really anxious and stressed, to feeling numb, shutdown and spaced out. Feeling sad, lonely and hopeless. Or a mix of all of these. You might understand what the issue is, and why it’s there - and yet you still feel the same. You don't understand why you haven’t just been able to move on. You might feel deeply ashamed about how you feel, hiding this or withdrawing from others. You are not alone. I can help.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
