17 years as a psychotherapist providing therapy to people with complex and enduring mental health problems (mainly NHS) and clients with mild to moderate mental health issues referred by organisations. I carry out in depth assessments, quickly identify key issues and tailor therapy according to client need. I offer a confidential setting where clients are free to talk without fear of rejection, criticism of blame. I aim to provide someone with resources they can draw on to manage current and future anxiety, stresses, disabling symptoms and unstable moods.

We all go through ups and downs, and I have experienced my fair share of both. These experiences have inspired me to help others who may be struggling and in need of a listening ear. I understand that everyone is different and I believe that no single approach will be right for everyone. As an integrative counsellor I can work with you in a way that is suitable for your individual needs and preferences, tailoring your therapy to best suit your unique personality.

One of the things I love about EMDR is that it puts you, the client, in control, (something we may not have had very much of when our traumas were taking place). EMDR does not delete memories but simply changes the way painful memories are stored, so that when we think about them, they no longer trigger negative emotions or sensations. As my mother once said, you can go around it, under it or over it but at some point, you must go through it. I wish you strength and healing on your journey.

I'm a registered Psychotherapist and Counsellor. I work with Children, Adolescents, Adults and also offer support to families. I've worked in the field for 9 years and have worked with the NHS, for charities and also as Clinical Lead managing a service in the North East. My background is in Psychology. Whilst I am passionate about research in the field and best practice, I am also a warm, approachable practitioner who is able to put prospective clients at ease. I understand how daunting coming to see a Counsellor or therapist can be.

I am an integrative counsellor and counselling tutor trained in psychodynamic, person-centred and CBT approaches. I offer both short and long-term counselling to adults in the form of face to face, online, phone and ‘walk & talk' sessions. Using an integrative approach enables me, with my knowledge and experience, to adapt my therapeutic model to suit my client's needs, enabling change in the most beneficial way possible. Underpinning all my therapeutic work is the knowledge that it is ultimately the quality of the relationship between client and therapist - that's you and me - that heals.

Hello and welcome. Are you feeling out of sorts, lost, or not yourself? You may be struggling with anxiety, grief, or other emotional difficulties. Maybe you're coming to terms with a recent separation, a health condition, or another traumatic life event. Life can be challenging at times and we can find it hard to see a way forward. Pressures placed on us can be unrelenting and take their toll. These can often manifest in unrealistic expectations of oneself, leading to high stress levels and burnout. Whatever you bring I will hear you.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. With over 35 years experience I have helped hundreds of people like you to find greater peace and acceptance of themselves. The pandemic has revealed difficulties such as anxiety, depression, obsessiveness, and feelings of powerlessness to name but a few. Relationships with ourselves, with families and partners have been sorely tested. How we relate to ourselves is the building block for how we relate to others. People tell me that I am a good listener, warm, compassionate, wise with a sense of humour.

I offer a relaxed and flexible approach to therapy removing the stress so that you can focus on what is bringing you to sessions. Through my free 20 minute telephone consultation we can get a feel for if we would work well together. I deliver therapy in 3 different ways; outdoor therapy, in person therapy and Zoom sessions. Outdoor therapy takes place in Heaton Park as we both figuratively and literally walk side by side through the issues that are bringing you to therapy. I offer in-person therapy in holistic centres in both Prestwich and Whitefield/Radcliffe and also offer Zoom sessions.

Hi, my name is Karen. I gained my qualification in counselling and psychotherapy many years ago in 1997. I was privileged to attend an accredited course at Salford college. I also acquired certificates in sociology, psychology, child psychology, criminology, and hypnotherapy. Alongside the hypnotherapy certificate, I completed workshops in dream therapy, sex therapy, and inner child work. Over the years I have specialised in inner child work, and have witnessed many positive outcomes from using this technique. Since qualifying, I have worked with a diverse range of issues, of which no problem is too big or too small.
