From time to time, we all need a little support to help us navigate through the tough times. I believe that everyone's experience is unique and I am committed to providing a confidential and understanding environment where you can feel truly heard and valued. I work with a wide range of issues which include trauma, depression, post natal depression, anxiety, low mood, low self esteem, anger, relationship challenges, social anxiety, school related stress and confidence issues. Alongside my private practice, I am a school counsellor and also work with an agency offering counselling to survivors of sexual assault and abuse.

As a therapist, I work with clients to help them deal with issues such as depression, anxiety and invasive thoughts. I believe that society is quick to label people and say “whats wrong with you?” whereas, I believe we should be asking “What happened to you?” My clients have included survivors of childhood abuse, neglect, sexual assault and those recovering from traumatic-based experiences that have affected their current quality of life. I offer bereavement counselling to help people navigate their pain and find their own way to make sense of their loss. I recognise that, as each person is unique, so is their grieving process.

I have a heart for those who haven't felt heard or understood and I will treat what you share with the utmost care. I can offer you compassion where maybe you feel you haven't received it before, or maybe you feel like you don't deserve it because that internal voice tells you you are not good enough. I can help you discover the roots of that voice, weakening its influence over you and allowing you to build a new voice that is encouraging and supportive. Everyone deserves to have their voice heard, what you think and how you feel really is important to me.

Back in the nineties when I went to my first counselling session when it seemed the only option left that I could face. In the UK back then ‘therapy’ was almost taboo and I was scared to tell a soul. Thank goodness I quickly felt safe enough to confide in my counsellor and to share with her my deepest fears for my sanity, my marriage, my high pressure job and indeed, my future (if there was to be one). I can’t remember too much about those sessions now but I always felt better just for having shared. Nowadays through counselling I help people to find and to love their inner selves, to handle whatever life throws at them and to grow.

Therapy is time set aside by you and the therapist to look at what has brought you to therapy. This might include talking about life events (past and present), feelings, emotions, relationships, ways of thinking and patterns of behaviour. Resilience isn’t about never falling over. It’s about knowing what do to when we do fall over and how we get back up again. I won’t judge you or criticise you.  I work with the uniqueness of each individual client and endeavour to offer a relationship in which you feel heard, accepted, safe and valued.  And collaboratively we will work to make positive changes in your life.

Reading this is the first stage to helping yourself to start blooming. I understand how hard and  overwhelming it can feel to make these first steps, especially if this is your first experience of counselling. It takes courage to ask for help when life feels challenging and difficult. I know as I have been there myself. Having someone to talk to, trust and who is really listening and understanding how you feel can make a difference, enabling change to help you to understand yourself better.   If you are struggling with things in your life, past, present, or in the future, or you’re not even sure what the problem is, therapy can help

Perhaps you feel stuck, unable to focus or are struggling to overcome a challenge in your life. Perhaps goals feel easy to decide on but hard to stick to. Perhaps the same old thoughts keep running through your mind and you feel the cycle of negativity is ever lasting. Counselling can be the first step to overcome difficulties and address barriers getting in the way of moving forwards. Counselling can offer the space needed to reflect on what’s preventing positive change in your life. Counselling can help you find the tools you always possessed but needed some help finding to help you live a more fulfilling life.

I am an experienced Psychotherapist offering talking therapy to those seeking help in life. It may be difficulties in your relationship(s), work life, studies or a loss of meaning or connection that have brought you here. You might be stuck in ways of behaving, thinking and reacting that causes suffering and unsure how possible it is to be free from this. I draw on understandings of how the past can impact the present to help people develop more self awareness which often leads to more freedom and enjoyment in life and relationships. I provide an empathic, supportive relationship where you can explore this possibility.

If you are hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified, doubtful of your self-worth, or uncertain as to your identity, then understanding is called for, and I can offer that to you. I will make no judgments about you or your life and will accept and prize you entirely as you are, offering you warmth, empathy and a complete confidence in your ability to progress on a journey of recovery. I believe that we all have the ability to find our own answers and solutions so as to move forward out of distress, but sometimes we need a counsellor to help us get there.

I offer therapy to individuals aged 18+ in the Dunstable and Milton Keynes areas. I can help you explore any emotional difficulties you may have. Sometimes we don't know why we keep reacting to others the way we do. We just know we don't want to feel the way we feel anymore. Perhaps you seem to have everything together on the surface but underneath you feel overwhelmed, and you worry about what others might think of you if they knew the truth. You may have been trying to figure this out on your own but get frustrated because nothing seems to work. Maybe you feel that your issue is too insignificant and others have bigger problems.
