Working in the challenging field of addiction, mental health and forensic psychiatry for over 25 years and successfully counselling many people into recovery, I passionately believe that individuals have the inner resources to overcome their addictions and dependencies. I have not only witnessed this in others but have also overcome my own drug and alcohol addiction. Having underwent 6 months intensive rehab, I'm now over 27 years clean and sober and consider my main strength as working with a deep passion and belief.

Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood.
