Sometimes, we find ourselves alone in the dark forest and can’t find our way out. We could use a few breadcrumbs to show us the way or perhaps a companion to bring some light to the darkness. Whatever burdens you or makes you feel lost or stuck may be part of an untold story of you that contains your deepest and most painful wounds. They may drive important decisions and life choices, try to sabotage our dreams or relationships or tell us that our needs and feelings are not ok. Together, we can find a way of listening so that all the parts of you, even the most difficult, can be heard with compassion and genuine care.

Hi, I'm Deniz. I'm writing this statement so that you can learn about who I am and how I work. Hopefully, you'll find some reassurance here, that therapy can work for you. Academically, I am an Advanced Transactional Analysis Psychotherapist, as such I am trained to work across the spectrum of issues people may face, these include but aren't limited to: anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, confidence, grief and trauma. As a person, I'm warm, caring and genuine - I keep a very open mind and I'm naturally accepting. I've lived a broad life, I don't judge anyone, no matter how bad or unusual a person may themselves feel.

My work covers anxiety, trauma, ADHD, ASD, communication, assertiveness and relationships. You will receive a non- judgemental, confidential, collaborative safe space. Every person and experience throughout your life will affect you. How you process, respond and react will be normal for you, but may no longer be working or helpful. Distressing thoughts, relationships, emotions and sensations may linger or may lay hidden away. Our work together will clear the way for reflection, understanding and change, for a happier, healthier you.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, low mood or any other problems, it's highly likely that CBT can help. I appreciate the opportunity to help you to make your life become more rewarding and enjoyable again. I offer a free consultation by phone call to discuss your needs; we can decide together whether we are a good match and whether CBT seems appropriate.

Hello. I help people to recognise and understand why they do the things they do and how our life experiences impact relationships, career choices and most importantly how we feel about ourselves. Sometimes I help people grow in confidence and self esteem to change the things that aren't helping them to live the kind of life that's worth living to them and sometimes I help people reach a point of acceptance with the things they can't change. We do this by working together to create a safe, supportive, respectful therapeutic relationship.

About me: I combine a rigorous training at the University of Oxford with a gentle and compassionate approach to each individual client. We are all unique. So are the things we find painful or meaningful. The way forward will also be unique. I aim to provide a non-judgemental space in which we can identify how you might live a more rounded life. This is a gradual and meaningful journey towards some sense of healing, rather than a short-term alleviation of symptoms.

I started my counselling training over 12 years ago and have years of experience working with people who are striving to understand themselves and these complicated lives that we are all living. I will never get over how much courage it takes to reach out for help at a time of crisis and I am always blown away at the strength and resilience of the human mind. I believe that we all have the potential to grow & heal and that counselling works to facilitate this process. Counselling is for everyone. Not just those who may consider themselves to be in an extreme crisis. I treat each client as an individual working with your unique needs

A warm welcome. It is my hope to be a compassionate companion offering you a safe and confidential space where you can be truly heard; where, together, we can gently explore the issues that have brought you here. Maybe you are coping with a bereavement or are having relationship difficulties. Maybe you are struggling with anxiety or depression. Maybe you would like to try and make some sense of an upsetting or traumatic experience. Maybe you can’t quite put your finger on it, but something just doesn’t feel right; you feel a little lost or stuck. Whatever has led you here, therapy can help you make positive changes and live well.

Hello, I offer holistic counselling from a private room on the edge of the Peak District National Park in Marsden or we can connect online, on the phone or outside in nature. My practice is based on the values of kindness, safety, integrity, co-creation and holism. I believe that when we feel safe and held in relationship we can start to develop and listen to our felt-sense and intuition to source meaning, growth and fulfilment in our lives.

People often first come for counselling when they begin to experience symptoms of low mood and anxiety such as disturbed sleep, low levels of motivation and energy, or increased rates of irritability and tension which just don’t seem to shift. These symptoms could be related to a significantly upsetting event, or they might be linked to a background of adversities and difficulties. Either way, you might be hoping to improve your mood and to reduce feelings of anxiety or panic, to regain a sense of confidence and self esteem, and to feel more energised and motivated. People often say they want to get back to their old self again.

Choosing to start counselling and therapy is an empowering decision. Whether you’re grappling with a specific challenge, feeling anxious or down, making pivotal life choices, or simply seeking a space to understand yourself better and gain practical tools for daily life, I’m here to support you. I truly believe that as hard as it can be, talking about what you are facing can take the power out of some of the feelings and thoughts that can make you feel stuck or isolated.

It could be that you’ve become stuck worrying about the future, or you’ve got some big stuff in your head that’s getting in the way of moving forwards and it’s time to do something with it so that you can move on. Maybe there is fear and anxiety of making change, or you feel stressed and sad? Or maybe there is some unavoidable unhappiness in that is in the background of your life?

Hi, I am Clare, a compassionate, warm, friendly, and professional integrative relational psychotherapist. I work alongside clients in a respectful, empowering, non-judgemental way, to deepen understanding, identify choices and enable change. I believe that our early relationships and experiences have a profound impact on how we feel and behave, and on what we believe about ourselves and the world around us. Having counselling will enable you to rediscover yourself in a safe place, where you can go at your own pace and allow yourself to release your true emotions that you may have locked away but are causing anxiety or distress.

Hi my name is Sarah. I work with children in schools and at our counselling suites . My focus when working with children is to find a way to work with them to help with all of their areas of difficulty, from emotional to school and the variety of difficulties they can experience. I find that children and young people feel most comfortable when they have routine, so the children will always have the same time and day each week, this helps build rapport. I specialise in inclusive therapies which means I can use a variety of techniques which will best support each child individually. From behaviour, emotion, to social difficulties,

Hi, I’m so pleased I’ve reached you. Do you have a busy brain that tends to make you anxious? Do you tend to feel not good enough, and that you need fixing? Perhaps you are concerned about being misunderstood or even misgendered? I have lived experience of ADHD/Autism as a fellow AUDHDer. I can also understand the struggles that arise from being transgender or non binary. I am a mum of two who is passionate about supporting people who may be feeling they cannot cope as I know how this can manifest into anxiety and depression. If you would like to get to know, love and trust yourself and stop feeling broken, I can help.

Oh love- I'll get you a brew. Sound familiar? As much as I love a good cup of tea, it doesn't fix everything. Perhaps you are struggling with upsetting memories, tension in relationships or in doubt about the decisions you have made in life? My aim is to build a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to share your thoughts and feelings, empowering you to continue on your own healing journey.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
