I work with adults and couples experiencing a variety of issues, such as - divorce and relationship breakdown; bereavement and loss; anxiety; depression; anger; trauma; childhood abuse; self harm; low self-esteem. I practise an integrative, person-centred approach which focuses on the relationship between counsellor and client. Hello, if you are struggling with your mental health, I want to help YOU with whatever is bothering you. I would like to work with you as your ‘wing woman’, helping you to 'unravel' your thoughts and feelings. I can help you achieve an understanding of what is going on for you whether at the present moment or, due to trauma or situations from the past. To me how we relate to each other and work together is paramount. I want you to feel safe and able to share your story with me. I work instinctively with assessing your needs. I am very much a “what you see is what you get” counsellor and human being!

I am friendly and approachable and have 22 years of experience in working with a wide range of different issues that people face. I offer a safe space to explore whatever your issue is in an accepting non-judgemental environment where we build trust together to enable and help facilitate change. Counselling is a talking therapy which enables people to explore their feelings and emotions. It helps enable greater awareness to be gained by bringing unconscious thoughts and feelings into the consciousness, therefore bringing greater understanding of a person’s inner self. It is through this process that potential for change comes.

If you're feeling depressed or anxious and can't seem to shift this state of mind no matter what you try, or you feel like you can't get control of your 'self' in some fundamental way, then you might like to try IFS therapy. This gives clients a model for working with their own minds which can be used both in therapy and in daily life. It puts you easily back in the driving seat – and after years of feeling that there's nothing you can do about the moods that tend to sweep over you, that can be a huge relief.

Do you have a space in your life to sit, reflect and be truly honest? Are you juggling overwhelming emotions such as anxiety, depression, anger, loss, frustration and you feel alone with your thoughts? Are you struggling to connect with people in your life? Do you feel lost at work or in your home life? Do you tend to self-sabotage or doubt your own ability? Often we choose to invest in our physical health, our home, our lifestyle, hobbies, vacations, but is there sometimes a reluctance to do the same with our mental health? Perhaps hoping the issues will correct themselves?

Have you reached a point where you sense you just can’t carry on feeling this way? Maybe it’s a recent breakup, or a build up of feelings that’s just all become too much to cope with on your own. Perhaps you are carrying a silent pain that you wish the people around you could see. Maybe you are tired of not feeling understood by those closest to you. I wonder if you have lost your trust in others, and reaching out for help often feels impossible. I specialize in working with people to make sense of their past and how it is affecting the present. You are really not alone, and I would like to help, your feelings do matter.

Life can sometimes be difficult and we may find ourselves struggling and feeling anxious, depressed and unconfident. We may find ourselves battling with the feelings evoked by loss, due to bereavement, relationship breakdown or even the children leaving home. Counselling is not a magic cure, but talking to an empathic, skilled therapist can help; fostering both the processing of difficult feelings and resilience to better deal with what life throws at us, enabling us to move forward. The effect of just being listened to by those who have hitherto struggled to be heard can be both powerful and empowering.

This can help to provide you with the tools that will enable you to cope more effectively with everyday life and distressing periods or life-changing events.

Hello, and welcome. As an experienced psychodynamic counsellor, I specialise in working with children and young people between the ages of 10-25. For children and young people, it can often be difficult to understand or express their emotions. This can lead to overwhelming, confusing or stuck feelings, perhaps resulting in low self-esteem and struggles with relationships with others, and themselves. Counselling and creative therapy offers a safe and supportive space to explore emotions, and develop an understanding of their thought patterns whilst building communication skills and emotional resilience.

Welcome! As an integrative counsellor, I draw upon a number of theories and styles to support you, enabling me to work in the best possible way to suit your personal needs. Despite, however, different theories and styles, it is the 'relationship' between us which has been found to be the most important factor in facilitating change. I aim to provide a warm, non-judgemental and empathic relationship, which is based upon trust and sensitivity, to help you to explore your concerns and to be able to gain awareness and understanding of yourself through the process.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
