Do you want to feel happier? Do you suffer with anxiety, depression, feeling sad or low self esteem? Maybe you feel stuck and have lost yourself? Sometimes there is a specific reason and we know what is making us feel that way, other times it appears there is no reason at all. Counselling can help unpick whats going on, identify those thoughts and for it to feel less overwhelming in a safe and non judgmental way.

I'm passionate about freeing people suffering with anxiety, depression, weight & self esteem issues. I believe a lot of us get conditioned in our life at a very young age based on our environment and the people around us. We come up with irrational ideas of ourselves that we are not good enough or different or lack something, which causes pain within. Once you have an understanding of what your mind is trying to do for you then it becomes much easier to change a behaviour, belief or habit.

Sometimes the meaning of life gets lost. We feel stuck. We go through challenging life events believing we have overcome them but uncomfortable feelings and difficult emotions remain in our bodies. We might experience symptoms of anxiety such as insomnia or aches, depression or PTSD. We profoundly suffer and we don’t know what to do to change this. As a consequence, at home, at work or in relationships, life feel like a struggle and isn't pleasurable anymore.

As a psychodynamic counsellor and hypnotherapist, my approach to working with clients is rooted in psychodynamic theory, which emphasises the exploration of unconscious processes and the influence of past experiences on a person's current thoughts, feelings, and actions. Here's a general outline of how I work with my clients: I shall meet with you, listen to you and together with you establish our therapeutic relationship.A safe and trusting working relationship. Once we have this we shall be ready to start exploring deep and often sensitive issues. I shall help you explore your unconscious thoughts, feelings, and conflicts.

Underpinning psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a vast body of work that began with Freud, but the theory doesn't have an overt presence in the room. Psychotherapy in practice is more a process of discovery for both therapist and client. It can be challenging, exciting, frightening – even funny - as we both try to better understand the circumstances and patterns that have brought you to therapy. It's a good idea to have a no-obligation free session, to see what it's like.

The search for a counsellor can feel overwhelming and it can be difficult to know where to start. I believe that successful counselling is largely determined by the rapport between the client and counsellor. If you would like to message me, we can arrange an initial consultation to discuss your reasons for thinking about counselling, what you hope to achieve and to see how well we are suited to working together.

Has something happened and your world’s been turned upside down? Do you feel lost? It’s common for everyone to experience bumps in the road of life; but what happens when you just don’t know how to deal with those bumps? Perhaps you talk to family, friends or colleagues, maybe you just keep it all in, cross your fingers and hope for the best. Talking things over is known to help, especially when you are really listened to by someone who doesn’t judge you or tell you what to do, all in confidence. You might not realise it yet, but you are the expert on your own life and counselling can give you the keys to unlock that expertise.

Hi, how are you? Are you feeling stressed, perhaps a little depressed/low mood, or suffering with low self esteem, fear or issues such as anxiety ( including generalised anxiety disorder) anger? Panic attacks, self-harming, it might be that life has been just difficult to manage: relationships, childhood trauma, bereavement. If any of this sounds familiar, I might be able to help.

When you are overwhelmed with challenges in life, feel stuck, or deal with mental health issues, devastating loss or trauma, it is helpful to talk with someone who can guide and support you. Counselling can help you sort through the things in your life that are important to you. When you feel understood and cared for, hopelessness leaves the room. You can then grow in courage to walk your journey without being alone.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
