I am a fully qualified integrative therapist of which I may use multiple techniques for the best practice of the client.
Therapy can help you whilst going through some of the most difficult times in your life, whether they are in the present or the past. As a counsellor there would be a safe place to offload those harmful thoughts in the room and where the focus is on the thoughts and feelings you have created. My focus is on you the client to support you at an emotional and steady pace; and to progress you from where you are to a place of contentment. I have been a therapist to children to mature adults. Remember that, "you are more than your past".

I work with adults covering a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, and relational concerns, to name but a few.
I have been in that unimaginable place, where I did not know where to turn or even where to begin to make the necessary changes to improve my life. It is through my own positive experiences of counselling that I decided to train to become a counsellor. I understand that taking that first step towards seeking support can seem very challenging. It is with this empathetic thought in mind, and the ethical framework that I work within that I always endeavour to establish a transparent and trusting therapeutic relationship, without judgement, in a safe and confidential environment.

Sometimes it can be hard to talk about difficulties, so it can be very helpful to have other techniques to use alongside talking therapies.
Hi, sometimes it no longer seems enough to talk to friends or family, and we need further support and insight to get back on track. I work with adults, teenagers and children, offering a range of therapeutic methods, to find which suit you best. I am a fully trained and accredited Counsellor with the British Assiciation of Counselling and Psychologists, I am trained in person centred, Psycho- dynamic and CBT and I offer many creative techniques such as Jungian Kallffian Sandplay which is a gentle but extremely effective way of working with children, teenagers and adults. I would really like to hear from you, please send a text (0781 209 7293) or email (stillvoice.ej@gmail.com) so that we can arrange a time for an initial phone call to discuss how I can help you.

Central to my working is that the relationship is the key between myself and the client, in fostering a collaborative and trusting relationship, together we can embark on a journey of exploration, understanding and acceptance.
I am an experienced counselling psychotherapist in psychodynamic psychotherapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). I work with young adults (16+), adults and couples. I offer a confidential and non-judgemental environment, encouraging a safe space to enable you to explore and share difficult thoughts and memories. This maybe the first time these memories are shared with someone that shows empathy and understanding to the feelings attached to these. I specialise in Anxiety, Trauma, Bereavement, Depression and Couples Therapy.

Hello! If you are reading this you may be thinking about taking a step towards seeking help and struggling with something that you feel you can no longer tackle alone or maybe you just don’t feel like yourself, which is ok, it is not unusual and no one should have to face difficult situations on their own, I believe no one should have to suffer. I believe that talking through your issues and making sense of how you are feeling can make you feel empowered and propel you to take action to make changes as you connect the dots. I will engage with you to try and provide a deeper understanding of yourself.

If you would like to ask me any more questions about my way of working feel free to send me an e-mail.
First and foremost I aim to sit with you as another human being, with an open mind and a gentle approach from which we can think together about what has led you to try counselling. From this starting point we can then look at why you might be struggling with the thoughts and feelings that you face on a daily basis, be it a life situation that you need support with, past experiences that you are ready to share or if you are trying to make sense of why life seems to be so challenging for you, without any clear defining cause.

Entering counselling can be very nerve racking.
Thanks for looking at my profile. I am a highly experienced counsellor, seeing individuals, couples and teenagers. What makes someone choose a counsellor, because it seems we all pretty much offer the same therapies. Is it the warm photograph to promote ourselves or the letters after our name. At this point most people have stopped reading, but if you continue you may see how I can help you.

Whether you are looking to change unhelpful patterns of thought and behaviour, navigate relationship difficulties, examine how past experiences and the unconscious are affecting your current life or just need a safe space to explore your issues, I invite you to take the first step towards lasting change and growth.
Modern life comes with many difficult challenges and can often be overwhelming. We are often bombarded with mixed messaging about who we are meant to be and what will make us happy. You may be experiencing stress and confusion or are feeling lost in life. Perhaps you feel low in confidence, self-esteem or are feeling anxious or depressed. Or maybe you feel that certain habits have taken control of you and are damaging your quality of life. I believe that together we can face your issues and start you on the road towards real change.

I appreciate that all obstacles can feel overwhelming at times.
Are you looking for someone confidential and non judgemental to talk to? Life can often feel extremely overwhelming. Facing obstacles such as anxiety, depression, lack of self confidence, relationship issues, work issues etc can make us feel helpless. The aim is to understand our obstacles in order to change them.

What is the goal of therapy for depression?

Therapy for depression has several major goals. One is to relieve the mental pain of depression, which distorts feeling and thinking so that sufferers cannot see beyond their current state of mind or envision feeling better. Another is to give people the mental tools to recognise and correct the kinds of distorted thinking that turn a problem into a catastrophe and lead to despair. Therapy also teaches people how to process negative emotions in constructive ways, so they have more control over their own emotional reactivity. And it helps people regain the ability to see themselves positively, the motivation to do things, and the capacity for pleasure.

What happens in therapy for depression?

Perhaps most important, no matter the type of therapy, patients form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Patients learn to identify and to challenge their own erroneous beliefs and thoughts that amplify the effects of negative experiences. They learn to identify situations in which they are especially vulnerable. And they learn new patterns of thinking and behaving. They may be given “homework” assignments in which they practice their developing skills. In addition, good therapists regularly monitor patients to assess whether and how much the condition is improving.

What therapy types help with depression?

Several types of short-term therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) helps clients challenge their negative thoughts and beliefs, learn new behavioral strategies, and curb reactivity to distressing situations. Behavioural activation (BA) is a form of therapy often used in conjunction with CBT; it focuses on engagement in rewarding activity as a pathway to changing negative feelings and disturbed mood. Another widely used approach is interpersonal therapy (IPT), which targets the social difficulties that both give rise to and get exacerbated by depression. Therapists may combine approaches as needed.

Can therapy for depression be done online?

Studies have found that online therapy can be highly effective for treating depression, although it may be more challenging to build a good therapist-patient alliance on screen than in person—at least at first. However, online therapy can offer considerable advantages. Accessibility and convenience are tops among them. Some people actually find it easier to talk about problems online than in person. While online therapy typically limits visibility of facial expression and body gestures that give important nonverbal cues to a patient’s state of mind, it can give therapists a glimpse into a patient’s world and life, providing information that can be highly useful in guiding therapy.

How effective is therapy for depression?

Many studies show that therapy is highly effective provided that patients complete the prescribed course of therapy, commonly 16 to 20 sessions. Over the long term, it is more effective than medication and the effects are more enduring. As a result, psychotherapy has the power not just to relieve current suffering but to prevent future episodes of the disorder. Therapy reverses the dysfunction in neural circuitry that disposes individuals to a negative view of themselves, the world, and their future and they acquire coping techniques, problem-solving skills, and understanding of their own vulnerabilities that are useful over the course of a lifetime.
