I have experience of working with teenagers and adults across a huge scope of areas which particular expertise in attachment, addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, neuro-diveristy, bereavement, work related stress and relationship issues.
As a counsellor, I practice in a pluralistic way which means I draw upon different theoretical approaches when I work with you as an individual – after all, there is only one of you in the world! My aim is to attune to your individual needs and I strive to work in an authentic down to earth way that is interactive and collaborative. Counselling can be daunting so I will work with you at your pace, offering you a space that is non-judgemental, respectful and confidential. Everyone is different, but having a space to talk and actually be heard can be extremely powerful and healing; leading to a greater understanding of yourself.

I have experience of working with clients on issues such as depression and low mood, anxiety, loss and bereavement, low self-esteem, anger management, abuse, relationships difficulties, work related issues, addiction, exam stress, child and adolescent issues, adoption and fostering, health issues, personal development and general counselling.
I am an Accredited BACP Therapist & Supervisor. If you are considering how therapy can support you through challenging life events, I can support you by offering a safe & confidential space in which you can begin to examine what may feel impossible right now to resolve by yourself; without fear of being judged and experience, perhaps for the first time, a real feeling of being heard. I work by helping you to explore your thoughts, emotions & life story so far, with the aim of both of us understanding & together making sense of the difficulties you are experiencing. Together, we will then seek a way of moving forward positively.

As an integrative therapist, I’ve helped clients with loneliness, depression, sexual abuse, self-esteem, addiction, insomnia, divorce, eating disorders, attachment issues, loss of meaning & more.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, crippled by anxiety and a fear of things getting worse? Carrying this alone can be heavy. After a devastating life event of my own, I learnt how to safely navigate deep emotional pain, transform hurdles into stepping stones and how to find solid ground again. I can help you. You might currently be coping by keeping busy, procrastinating, or perhaps doing everything 'perfectly' to please others? This comes at a huge cost to your mental health and is not sustainable. I offer a safe space & tools to help you stay calm, in control, navigate your relationships, resolve your sleep, your health & sense of self.

Waitlist for new clients
Sarah is a successful paralegal in the City who struggled with shameful feelings and self-disgust most of her life. Typically as Christmas was approaching and lots of parties invitations started to arrive on her desk, she would surrender into procrastination and self-criticism, in order to avoid a situation she felt likely to fail, supported by an exaggerated set of predictions about social embarrassment or other social disasters. Sarah struggles to improve her confidence and esteem - in spite of a successful academic and professional life. Her efforts are genuine but exhausting and she often is trapped by episodes of depression.

We may use different words to describe what's going on for us when we are looking for therapy: unsure, fed up, low, empty, frustrated, anxious, panicky, over-thinking, unable to sleep, too sensitive, or like can't carry on... Perhaps feeling not in control, not belonging, invisible or wanting to escape, or lost. It can be overwhelming, taking too much from us. So starting therapy is right. We can use therapy space, free of judgement, expectation or failure, to talk it all through and work things out.

People usually seek therapy because they have reached a crisis point in their life and are struggling to cope alone. This can lead to feeling stuck or creating unhelpful behaviour patterns to cope which present them from living life to their full potential. We often feel confused, anxious, depressed, emotionally numb or trapped in our past without clear goals in life or clear identity. I can offer you a safe space to explore better internal understanding which promotes self awareness, personal growth and inner peace which enables you to feel full of hope and clarity to achieve personal success.

Counselling provides a safe and confidential space in which you can explore whatever is troubling you. Our first meeting will help me to make an initial assessment of your situation and will also give you an opportunity to gain a sense of whether you feel comfortable with me in order for us to work together. Additionally, this session will give you an opportunity to explore what you would like to gain from counselling and give us a chance to establish whether you would like to commit to a short-term or potentially an open-ended basis. This will ultimately be your decision and can naturally change over the course of therapy.

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
