Hi there, I am a psychotherapist in Cheadle Hulme. l love working with people and supporting them to make positive changes in their lives. We all share the desire and drive to be the best person we possibly can and to have healthy, loving relationships. Sometimes life gets in the way and we get stuck in a moment, a thought or a pattern of behaviour. Life can be difficult and the way forward is not always clear. Everyone can benefit from therapy for personal growth, to live in the here-and-now and to better connect with the things that matter to you. It is important to find the right therapist so I offer a free 50 minute session.

My aim is to help explore the difficulties that individuals and families are wanting support with and then be honest and transparent in the ways in which I am able to help. I am able to offer individual sessions, family sessions and a mix of both when required. I recognise that engaging with someone new can be daunting for young people and their families and therefore initially I prioritise helping people to feel comfortable to share their problems. I am able to assess and contribute towards assessment for Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) alongside a multidiscplinary team.

We all face Challenges and internal conflicts at some point in our lives; there are three solutions to every problem; Accept it, change it or leave it. If you are reading this profile you are probably on the road of wanting change, you don't have to struggle in silence and the time for change is now. The most important ingredient of change is the acknowledgment of the situation.Sometimes it can be very hard to explain what is going on in your head or your heart when you don't even understand it yourself , this is where speaking to someone with decades of experience makes a difference.

Have you ever felt stuck with your family or work roles? Do the people who are meant to love you unconditionally, frequently hold you back? Do you find yourself constantly feeling the need to apologise for things, then wondering what you have done wrong? Maybe you have felt blamed for things in life and want to explore things further. Or you may feel held back by guilt and regret. I can work with you to explore this through a safe and steady process which looks at patterns across your life and within relationships. This will help you to break free from the restraints of negative approval you may have felt for many years.

I am committed to supporting people in healing from relational trauma, developmental trauma, childhood trauma and interpersonal trauma of all kinds. Human beings are amazing, remarkable and resilient in our ability to cope with adversity. We often compartmentalise or dissociate what happens to us so we can carry on living. We also turn to all manner of addictions and behaviours that on the surface may seem disordered and destructive yet at the same time they make perfect sense. They protect us, help us to stay in control, help numb the pain, help us to survive, and help communicate our stories.

Hi, I'm Sarah. We all have times when we find it hard to cope. Counselling can help you understand why you think, feel and act like you do. It can help you develop positive strategies to get what you want out of life. How we think, feel and behave is part of being human. Problems can arise when we get 'stuck' in negative thought patterns; when our feelings become overwhelming; when our behaviour is self-destructive and doesn't result in us getting what we need; when we worry about the future, dwell on the past and find it hard to live in the present. I believe the most important relationship we have is the relationship with ourself.

When life gets hard we can find ourselves revisiting old patterns in how we treat ourselves and other people. Perhaps we reach for unhelpful ways to cope, or end up feeling ashamed and stuck. You may be looking for sessions to address a specific problem such as depression, anxiety, or addiction; or to explore the patterns that you get into in your relationships with others and yourself; or because there has been great change or loss in your life and you are wondering how you can move forward.

From time to time we all feel sad, anxious, helpless, irritable, lack motivation and have low self esteem. Life is always a challenge for most of us; most emotions are painful, both physically and psychologically. Without help our mood can worsen, life becomes joyless , causing us to loose hope and withdraw from people. It might be the way you think about and treat yourself that has brought you here. Maybe you would like to explore areas of your life that are causing you levels of distress. Are you struggling with relationships? Trying to move on from abuse? Or dealing with loss? Dealing with conflict at work might be stressful.

I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2009 and have over 18 years experience working for the NHS. I worked in the Specialty of Weight Management for 8 years. My aim was to help people understand the psychological barriers to making health-related changes. I work with people to explore the reasons behind obesity, overweight, binge eating, emotion-driven eating (comfort eating) and/or difficulties breaking the cycle of yo-yo dieting. I also help people improve their relationships with food, their bodies and with themselves.

We all experience losses in life – not just when someone dies but when we lose anything that is important to us: our relationships, our dreams of having a family, our health, our home, our job, our independence, our pets, and our hopes or expectations. Often, we are able to grieve for those losses and adjust but sometimes we are left feeling anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, angry, guilty, ashamed, withdrawn, or numb for many months or even years later. Adjusting to losses in life is not about ‘getting over’ them but about finding ways to live a life that includes them.
