Therapy is an opportunity to get 'unstuck', to reflect on our relationship to ourselves, to the world, and to others, in an atmosphere that is safe, warm and encouraging. Often my clients are high functioning, intelligent and articulate, but at a crossroads in their personal lives - they may struggle to change relational patterns, make important decisions, or even know what they want in life. Together we explore what is going on at a cognitive, physical, emotional and relational level, identify sources of strength and creativity, and allow space for different aspects of the self to be known.

I believe the relationship is the most important thing and finding the right person for you to work with, the person that will most empower you to make the important changes in your life is of utmost importance.
Hi, I am Jo and welcome to my profile. I am a qualified and Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with the BACP Integrative approach, believing 'one size does NOT fit all'. This approach gives me a variety of skills and ideas based on theory from different schools of thought, therefore allowing me to reach and help more people. I am also an experienced coach, particularly around relationships. Whilst there are definite differences between Counselling/Psychotherapy and Coaching, and there are professional ethics and boundaries I abide, I also believe that the two have similarities in enabling and empowering people to make change.

Most people choose therapy at a time when they are experiencing a “crises in meaning”, “crises in ego” or "crises in relationship". This is a call to action. Whether the struggle is to do with a relationship, depression, anxiety or adjustment to change, the person has a desire to find resolution or relief. This is a necessary process in the path toward psychological maturity, humility and self-acceptance. Therapy facilitates this process. I am a senior psychologist, in practice since 2005. I am trained as a Child & Family Mediator and completed a specialisation in Transpersonal Psychology which informs my approach to therapy.

I believe that we can create the life we would like, and therapy can help us to form what we'd like for ourselves. I work in a confidential one to one setting, to build a trusting relationship. I will listen and empathise so we can develop what you would like for yourself and your wider relationships, so you can take charge over your experience. I've been working as a therapist for the last 6 years.

For me, the relationship is at the centre of the work that is done & I aim to be non-judgemental, empathic, and as honest as possible.
Very often women accept ‘sex’ is something they used to do when I strongly believe we deserve to enjoy pleasure and to be pleasured. I help women want sex again! Do you have little interest in sex? Has pain on penetration caused a decline in your desire for sex? Is your pelvic floor not as strong as you like? Has the Menopause made your sex drive disappear? Do you question if you will ever feel aroused or reach an orgasm again? Has your body changed over the years, and you are lacking body confidence? Are you feeling overwhelmed, and sex is the last thing on your mind? Contact for a free 1.1 consultation.

Seeking support can be a challenging step to take. I am here to help. As a chartered clinical psychologist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council, I am trained to provide individuals, couples, and groups with evidence-based psychological treatments for a range of difficulties that can affect general well-being and quality of life. You may struggle with low mood and anxiety, and may be affected by issues such as relationship problems, low self-esteem, loss and bereavement, trauma, sexual problems, or substance misuse. It is also common to experience a number of issues at once, making problems seem insurmountable.

I work with individuals to help them understand more of their conscious experience and I specialise in work with identity, rural isolation and sports performance. Working from a Psychodynamic perspective, I look to childhood and environmental experiences that may have a profound influence on the current conscious state. Our work together will be at depth, spanning at least 8 weeks and establishing a relationship necessary to explore the underlying elements that may be present.

Relationship Issues Counsellors
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
