I prioritize building trust with both parent and child to foster a secure relationship.
I work with infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and their parents. My expertise lies in parent-child relationships, anxiety in early childhood and adolescence, ASD and trauma. I believe that both the parent and the child are integral to the therapeutic process. Sometimes the parent will be present in the therapy room, and at other times, the child and the parent will attend separately. The medium of therapy with the child depends on their age; for younger children, therapy involves play and play-based activities, gradually transitioning to a more conversational approach as they grow older.

I provide support (currently virtual only) for a range of difficulties affecting the wellbeing and mental health of children and families, including: dealing with life changes (e.g. parental separation), low mood, anxiety, behavioural difficulties, panic attacks, emotionally-based school avoidance. I also provide support for perinatal issues (pre/post-natal anxiety, low mood, birth trauma) in addition to early years challenges (tantrums, sleep and bonding difficulties). I specialise in providing parent and family support. I strongly believe in the importance of intervening early before challenges have chance to develop further.

The clients I have seen often find they do not feel connected with who they are anymore, or perhaps never really knew. They might have left an abusive situation, or be unsure how they feel about their current routine. Some have had children and lost some of their identity since gaining the title of ' parent.' This can leave people feeling anxious, depressed or scared of the future. I have history of seeing both male and female survivors of Domestic Abuse, Postnatal Depression for all parents and a lack of self worth.

In parent sessions, I offer a non-judgmental space to hear your concerns, provide specific guidance, and reassure, enhancing your understanding and confidence in your parenting.
It can be challenging to support your child or teen when they are having friendship struggles, experiencing bullying, overwhelming anxiety or uncontrollable angry feelings. As a dedicated child emotion specialist, I work with children aged 6-17 to build their emotional regulation through personalised online sessions and tools tailored around their interests. My creative approach equips children with useful social and emotional strategies that boost their self-esteem and nurture their emotional intelligence. The result is a calmer, happier home life for you and your family with your child or teen feeling more emotionally balanced.

As a parent and partner myself, I am very down to earth, empathic and patient, with lots of compassion and understanding for all the struggles that people go through.
Sometimes it is hard to know what to do or who to turn to if you are struggling with something , feeling overwhelmed or unhappy.. Or if one of your loved ones is finding life rather hard to cope with. If you are looking for some effective and compassionate help, for someone to listen and try to understand your difficulties, maybe help you find some relief and strategies, then why not reach out and let's talk it through together. I may be able to help you too if things with your partner are wobbly and you are perhaps fearing the worst for the survival of your relationship.

Our support sessions can be used to learn more about neurodivergence, to support adjustment to diagnosis, to explore tricky parenting dilemmas, or to think about what might help at school or work.
Hello! I'm Dr Lisa Weston, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist leading a small team of experienced clinicians. We offer Autism, ADHD, and Learning Disability diagnostic assessments and support sessions for children, young people and adults, in Cambridgeshire and beyond. We are skilled in assessing features of neurodivergence which are often missed, including in girls and women or those who may mask their differences. Having previously worked in an NHS diagnostic assessment service, I recognise how important it is for people to have a positive experience of their assessment and post diagnostic support.

ENA Behaviour Consultancy provides tailored, early intervention behaviour support for families of young people aged 4-11. We support caregivers by supporting them to gain confidence and understanding around emerging behaviours by collaboratively working along side them to support their child. We provide short term (6-8 sessions) support to families and introduce a behaviour support plan to mitigate risk, teach new skills and ultimately reduce behaviours. We introduce strategies proactively, meaning that we look at WHY behaviours are happening and replace them with alternatives to ensure that the young person's needs are being met.

Parenting Counsellors

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
