I offer a confidential, safe space, where I can hear your story and understand what its like to be you and what you are going through, I offer unconditional therapeutic support to help you back to being yourself again. Feel stuck, lost or alone without a clear path forward? I can help you to find the answers and some peace of mind. Free consultation

I can be of help with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and work and motivational problems. I believe that each of the people who comes to see me is a person, and not a case, and needs to be treated sympathetically and individually.

Although many therapists claim to work in a ‘person-centred’ way, they may not be well trained for this.
Hi, I hope your search for a therapist is going well. It can be a difficult process, but it is important to find a therapist who feels right for you. The relationship with your therapist is, on average, more helpful than their training and experience. Person-centred therapy is a relationship. It is not dependent on medical diagnoses, yet can help with all conditions. It is well proven to be as effective as other leading therapies, but uniquely it puts the client at the centre of the process. There is no 'you have x or y' or 'you should do this'. The right questions, and answers, will come from within during our conversations.

I see clients (and supervisees) from all backgrounds and specialise in working with men, or wo men seeking to better understand difficult relationships with men. I work with many issues including stress, feeling sad, low self-esteem, loss and relationship difficulties. My clients often want to change something about themselves and need a place to feel comfortable, share their emotions and better understand their needs. Articulating emotions and needs can be a struggle at first for some and I am experienced in helping clients to open up over time. My work is with individual clients online or in person, both short and long term.

We are more than what has happened to us, the central question is: 'who do you want to become?' Being able to move from patterns of behaviour rooted in the past into the way we want to be in the here and now is a deeply profound and personal journey for us. Drawing from Transactional Analysis, my work as a UKCP Trainee Therapist involves recognising the amazing ways we adapt to overcome difficult or painful experiences, working with clients to facilitate transformative change and helping clients to re-write their stories.

Hi, I’m Tom, I’m an accredited CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) Therapist. I live and work in Cornwall offering face to face sessions in this area as well as working remotely throughout the UK. Life can be tough at times. There are times when we all may struggle with our health and wellbeing, and there are times when we might need a bit of extra help and support. I think CBT can be a great tool for this. If you are noticing that your mood is low or you are feeling anxious or worried then please reach out as I might be able to help.

I'm a relational integrative therapist meaning, the relationship is the therapy. It also means I use different types of therapy to meet your needs because, you are unique. Integrative therapy helps you become a more integrated whole person, better able to experience the entire range of your behaviour, emotions and thoughts as well as improving your relationship with yourself and others. Neuroplasticity continues throughout the lifespan which means that change and improvement in the way we feel is always possible and therapy is the best way to achieve this.

We are all trying to manage change and all this uncertainty can make us anxious.
I offer both in person and online support for people experiencing grief, loss or struggling with change. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to unpack issues, explore your feelings and better understand what is going on for you. You may be feeling lost, anxious, uncertain or scared. That's understandable. That's okay. Considering counselling is a brave step. Well done for coming this far. Let's work together to try and find a way forward for you.

Male Counsellors

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
