In Person Counselling in Cotham, Bristol
Hello, my name is Tanya. I am a professionally qualified person-centred, integrative counsellor. I have worked with people experiencing a number of difficulties, including depression, grief & loss, stress, low mood, anxiety, relationship problems, trauma, difficult life changes and transitions, childhood abuse, domestic abuse, low self-esteem, low confidence and much more. I strongly believe that within each person lies the capacity for personal growth and self-fulfilment. Life challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming, but experience has shown me that it is possible to overcome problems and grow in a possitive direction.

We live in a culture that promotes the idea of strong, powerful individuals who live picture perfect lives. There is little room for showing our vulnerability, or our need for connection. There is a cultural expectation that when things are difficult for us we should just 'get over it' and not make a fuss, this might manifest in you with thoughts of "what's wrong with me", "why is this so hard" and "I should be able to manage by myself" and so on! You may be feeling fragmented, disconnected, numb, overwhelmed, fearful, unable to cope, you might feel like giving up.

Feeling stuck is more common than you might think. Your thoughts may be piling up, and it feels like the harder you try to sort them out, the more tangled they become. It's natural to cling on to old stuff because it feels safe or familiar, or perhaps you can't quite pinpoint what's up. These moments often show up disguised as stress, overwhelm, fear, feeling low or as a constant state of anxiety. There might be signs physically and mentally, telling you it's time for something different. You might also be searching for a new playlist for your mind, wondering if it's even possible as everything seems to be stuck on loop.
