I work with individuals who are experiencing a sense of being stuck in their life. They may be facing painful emotions, negative thought patterns, or behaviours that are causing difficulties in their lives. They may want to make sense of their difficulties by exploring them in the context of their whole life, thinking back to their early experiences, and how that has shaped the person they have become. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, abuse, low self-esteem, relational difficulties, spiritual and religious trauma and more.

Welcome. Whatever you’re going through right now, I’m glad you’re here. I work with a wide range of issues, and have additional skills and experience in working with neurodiversity, parenthood and palliative care. I work in an affirmative way and invite you to come as you are - with snot and tears, fidgety or nervous, or not knowing where to start - just come.

Therapy can help us to manage our lives and our relationships better, it can lead to more fulfilling relationships and a renewed sense of aliveness. Learning how to manage symptoms such as overthinking, insomnia, anxiety, depression, lack of energy, or an enduring sense of helplessness and despair, can lead to renewed energy and a greater sense of freedom in our lives. In my sessions I often use teaching, in order to help make sense of and understand why you might be feeling the way you do and to help you learn ways to make changes in order to better manage those feelings.

Hello, I understand how hard it can be to take the first step and seek counselling and it is imperative you choose the right therapist for you. You may have an idea around what you want to talk about, or you might just know you want things to be different, and are unsure how to change this. Counselling can help you work out the direction you want to go, and how to start heading there.

Hi, I'm Chloe. I have a small practice in Belper (Derbyshire) as well as online, seeing clients across the country. As the client, I believe you are the expert on yourself, no-one else knows exactly what it’s like to be you. Some of my clients I am currently working with, are exploring topics such as: neurodiversity (self or professionally diagnosed) work-related stress, sexuality, bereavement and relationships. I love working with clients to explore power and have noticed lots of clients exploring themes of finding their voice in therapy and establishing boundaries.

Sometimes we need to talk. Or unload. Or work out what needs to change. Sometimes we need to do this with someone who's NOT family or a friend or colleague - someone who can listen deeply and confidentially, with fresh ears - with no bias or judgement. Someone who's steady, accepting and unshockable. What does counselling with me look like? Well, there's no one-size-fits-all. I will tailor it to your needs, session by session. You may have clear objectives, or none at all. It's all ok. We can work it out. I'll certainly want to get to know YOU as a human being, not just the 'issue' you're bringing.

At times, we can feel overwhelmed by the events and demands facing us. Life can feel daunting, and we can lose trust in ourselves to find a way forward. We can neglect ourselves and ignore areas of our lives that are painful. We may notice beliefs and habits we are stuck with that are holding us back from living life fully. Psychotherapy can help unravel the patterns we are caught in. Learning to pay attention to ourselves in a supportive space can help us to shift our perspective and find new directions. We can develop a compassionate relationship with ourselves that will help generate new energy to overcome our obstacles.

Life can be tough and many issues or situations can arise which lead us to feel challenged in our day-to-day life. You may have experienced major life events which have left you feeling traumatised or be feeling uncertain of yourself with regards to your sense of self or identity; maybe you have arrived at a time in your life when you crave some space to reflect and clarify your feelings as you look towards your future. Whatever your goal, it will be unique to you and you need to feel understood and respected as you embark on exploring deeply personal aspects of your experience.

I believe that people are endlessly creative... Despite damaging childhoods, difficult life experiences, the most painful losses and challenges we face living in an increasingly complex world, we are all capable of turning our lives around for the better. With courage and the right kind of help, our natural inborn capacity for growth is brought to light. The process of making life better is just as worthwhile as the outcome. Somehow the whole process of confronting and solving the apparently insurmountable problems that bring us to therapy can also bring renewed meaning and poignancy into our lives.

Do you ever feel like a spectator in your own life? Maybe you feel stuck in a pattern of behaviour and don't know how to change it? Do you feel less deserving of the life you desire than everybody else? If this sounds like you and you are ready to explore it further, then get in touch. I have a keen interest in identity, how we see ourselves, and how we see ourselves in relation to others. I provide a safe, non-judgemental environment where we can work through your issues or concerns at your own pace, focussing on your own personal goals. This is your time!

At Dandelions we know what it is like when your whole world is turned upside down by the loss of a loved one. Grief taints every aspect of your life, even parts of it that didn't involve the person that has died, and the intense variety of emotions can feel overwhelming. You may find yourself wondering where to begin in putting your life back together, perhaps you're not sure you want to. At Dandelions we are here to care, listen and be with you through your grief process; to help you work out who you now are in light of the loss and to gain the confidence to deal with life as it now is.

As a humanistic integrative counsellor, you set the agenda, I facilitate and help you unravel whatever it is you bring to your session.
No matter what your age, we all need someone who will listen, but sometimes we need someone that not only listens, but can help us to explore and understand the difficulties we may find in our lives. 'Listening is often the only thing needed to help someone' unknown

Humanistic Counsellors

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualisation and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
