I am an integrative and relational psychotherapeutic counsellor. This means that I believe the relationship between my client and myself is the most important, and healing agent for change. Working in an integrative way means that I draw from a range of theories to best suit my clients. Therapy is not one size fits all, we are all unique and I work with this in mind. I offer a safe space, warmth and non judgement for clients to explore their concerns, while working collaboratively with them. I work holistically with clients and recognise the importance of including mind, body and spirit.

My therapeutic approach is relational, warm and trauma-informed, and my focus is on creating a space where we can venture into the roots of what is going on for you. Whether this is a current feeling of overwhelm, anxiety, distress or a deeper, quieter sense of stuckness, fear or grief that needs some attention, I will work with you to cultivate a space in which you feel safe to explore that. I will guide you gently in our sessions, but be led by what feels safe and most important for you. I will pay attention to what is happening for you during our sessions by bringing attention to the body and allowing that to tell us something.

Are you facing difficulties in life? Our experiences can make us pessimistic, assume the worst, be constantly worried about the past repeating itself and anxious about the future. Sometimes it can feel there’s no way out. It doesn’t have to be this way, you can change the way you think, in turn changing your outcomes, interactions, behaviours, and experiences. Well done for taking the first step to go to therapy, the next step is choosing the right therapist. I can help you explore your thoughts, where they stem from, work with you to build resiliency, healthy habits and help you achieve your therapy goals.

The aim of my feminist therapy is for you to feel heard, held, understood & respected; to empower you with resources and ways to manage life so that you can find connection & fulfilment.
You may be feeling overwhelmed & disconnected in your relationships & work, &/or experiencing anxiety & despair about the state of the world - the climate crisis, the political landscape, the “never enough” of grind culture capitalism, the multitude of oppressive systems that plague us (racism, cisheteropatriarchy etc). I’ve been practicing for 15 years & find it especially rewarding working with those who are highly sensitive, empathic, artists, activists, queer, non monogamous, those struggling with a dysregulated nervous system, anxious attachment, poor boundaries & people pleasing. I work somatically alongside talk therapy.

My work is informed by queer and feminist frameworks aimed at observing the broader cultural, social and political nuances of each experience.
I'm a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with a LGBTQIA+ practice working with individuals, relationships and groups in Central London and Online. People seek counselling for many reasons - You might be struggling with anxiety and depression or challenging life events that left you feeling disconnected from yourself, your partner(s), or the world. Or you might be wanting to explore your gender/sexual identities experiences in a non-judgemental, safe space. Whilst all emotions are natural expressions of our human nature, traumatic events and systemic issues can be destabilising, leaving us feeling hopeless and stuck in a place of hurting.

Therapy might in some ways feel like a typical conversation with a good friend, but the type of questions asked are curious, sometimes challenging, sometimes even playful! we work with what is present for you; untangling the past in the present. Although having a goal and structure can be important, ultimately having a better understanding of yourself and your relationship with others is paramount.

I have limited availability for in-person sessions. We work within a structured integrative framework. You will describe and specify the areas you’d like to work on from your initial assessment. I will formalise a treatment plan, which will be communicated throughout, whilst sharing homework and other resources I see will enhance your progress. Our work is to understand who you are and to own your personal power enough to start leading and transforming your relationships with yourself and those around you. Working towards a goal can help with self-esteem and self-development as you can map and develop while seeing progress.

Feminist Counsellors

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
