Reaching out for therapy can be a huge step. Sometimes a particular experience leads us to access therapy, sometimes we want to explore big themes in our lives or to change how we relate to others. Often, we can benefit from exploring these areas and the impact of them on our day to day life and relationships.

My experience includes working in the charity sector with a diverse client base, supporting individuals with issues such as disability, trauma, depression, PTSD and bereavement.
Your place in this world matters. Choosing a therapist is an important part of your journey, my objective is to create a space in which you feel safe and comfortable to express yourself. Being integrative means that I am trained in more than one approach to counselling, allowing me to be flexible with the approach that works for you. Through counselling, we can create the space to explore parts of yourself that you might feel unable to share with others. I have helped people with experience of trauma, depression, social anxiety and more. I offer online sessions, or face to face sessions near Kenilworth.

Psychotherapy helps the person with relationships, roles, perceptions, beliefs and other struggles within the self. There are times in life when it can be hard to cope with difficult situations and challenging problems. Psychotherapy can provide a therapeutic encounter where together we can make sense of unwanted feelings and thoughts. Symptoms can be understood as manifestations of distress and their meanings can be explored together with care and respect. The aim is to make life happier, easier to live and invite creativity and growth in the person.

Everybody’s experiences and responses toward the unpredictability of life, differ greatly. Having a confidential space, that’s just yours, where you can focus on yourself, your life experiences, or your thoughts and feelings, can be incredibly transformative, provide a sense of relief, clarity, renewed optimism and hopefulness. I’m far from a ‘detached analytical cold figure’ in the room, but a person of warmth, an ‘old soul’ and ‘down to earth attitude’, whom respects individual uniqueness, circumstances and paths in life. I work with you to find the answers/solutions that you are looking for; not to analyse, or dictate to you.

I believe that when we suffer, the connection with another human at deep therapeutic level can unlock inner resources for acceptance, growth, and/or healing, and I take immense satisfaction being your companion in that journey. I am a very approachable, caring and down to earth person. I like to invest in your safety and autonomy, making you participate and own the therapeutic journey, with respect and transparency. As a counsellor who has navigated my own challenges, including chronic illness, I understand the importance of finding a therapist who truly gets it.

I am passionate about supporting others and the work I do. I strive to provide the space and environment needed, so you can get the most out of sessions, driven by yourself.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
