Feeling anxious, unsettled or sad can feel like a lonely place to be in our lives. I work with anxiety and depression and have further experience in working with addiction and abuse. Whether it's a challenging life event, relationship, job or a sense of ongoing unhappiness that feels hard to pin-point, I offer a calm and friendly space in which we can talk through your issues at your pace to explore what you might need. Rather than advise, I gently support you to find the way forward that feels right for you.

Does life feel quite overwhelming? Are you struggling with your identity? Are you finding it difficult to cope? You may be struggling to make sense of your world and your place in the world and trying to answer the 'who am I?, why am I here?' questions. You may have experienced childhood trauma which you are trying to make sense of. Life can feel challenging with ups and downs. We face unexpected situations that test our resilience and ability to cope. These challenges can impact on relationships, self esteem, work. family etc. We are not equipped to figure it all out alone.

When life events past or present become overwhelming, it can feel hard to cope with things alone & often hard to reach out to family or friends. If you are experiencing trauma & PTSD symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, flashbacks, panic attacks, anger issues, self-harm, low self-esteem, disconnection, shame, loss, isolation, we can work together at your pace to help you move through these feelings & behaviours. "Trauma is not what happens to you, it’s what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you. Trauma is that scarring that makes you less flexible, more rigid, less feeling and more defended." (Dr Gabor Mate)

Hello, I work with a range of issues, including anxiety and depression. Being heard and accepted for being who you truly are, can feel incredibly empowering. When this is taken away, our thoughts can trigger unhelpful behaviours, increasing low mood. Which in turn can play havoc with our emotions. When we feel lonely and isolated, overwhelming feelings can flood our thoughts and fears. I can offer you a safe, warm, and confidential space to explore any issues that may contribute towards your anxiety and depression. I am here to listen to you in an non-judgemental way, and to support you with any changes you wish to make.

There are a lot of reasons why you might be looking into therapist right now. It could be that you feel as though you have lost yourself or are confused about who you are. Maybe it's a sense of feeling lost in the world or you're feeling overwhelmed, weary or confused. Perhaps relationships are difficult or you're experiencing pressures in life and they are starting to feel out of control. Therapy is a space to explore experiences and find ways to live through them with the bonus of someone by your side being there for you during that time. Sometimes you may not be able to put a name to what it is you are experiencing and that's OK.

Trauma can become locked inside both our mind and body. Past traumatic events can be triggered by many different situations and people that you may encounter. These experiences, if not processed properly in our brains can make living day to day unpleasant, with negative feelings about ourselves, difficulties with anxiety, unexplained fears, avoidance, dissociation and many more distressing experiences. EMDR works to help the brain naturally process the trauma so that it can be left in the past. Please see my website for more details- www.Lucy ginger.co.uk

Do you want to feel happier? Do you suffer with anxiety, depression, feeling sad or low self esteem? Maybe you feel stuck and have lost yourself? Sometimes there is a specific reason and we know what is making us feel that way, other times it appears there is no reason at all. Counselling can help unpick whats going on, identify those thoughts and for it to feel less overwhelming in a safe and non judgmental way.

At some point in our lives, we all encounter difficulties. We each have unique experiences of these struggles and at times they can feel overwhelming. You may seek therapy if you feel stressed, anxious or struggle with low mood. You might find yourself affected by current or past experiences. Difficulties related to your relationships, work, or homelife. It may be that you long for a calm, confidential space to be heard and understood. Counselling and psychotherapy can help wherever you are in your life.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
