Thank you for checking me out. Like life, it can be difficult to make the right choices. I have been a Samaritan for over 25 years and worked for Cruse Bereavement, so I really do know how to help people struggling with most forms of trauma; relationship problems; anxiety and anger. Or struggling with career progression, bullying and perhaps feeling left out from others. I can help you. I see clients fact-to-face in a dedicated therapy room, not part of a house, so is confidential and free from interruptions. It has wheel-chair access and parking. Or see me on-line if you prefer

If you are struggling with the after-effects of being in a chaotic, psychologically damaging relationship, be it with a partner, family members, friends or at work, contact me to see how I can help you not only recover but go on to lead a more empowering life.
Do you walk on eggshells in certain relationships? Do you struggle to say no or set boundaries. Do you feel like your reality is being questioned? Have you been in a relationship that has been verbally abusive? Do you not have control of your finances, or personal decision making? Do conversations sound like they are 'crazy making' or going in circles. Sometimes we feel like we have lost ourselves in our relationships. Or we have experienced significant psychological abuse in the past. I help people make sense of their experiences in a safe and nurturing environment. You are not alone and can improve your life.

I believe the most important factor in establishing a positive therapeutic counselling relationship is that you feel safe and comfortable to engage in the work with me.
If you are stuck in some challenging situations, feeling tired, frustrated or overwhelmed, not knowing what to do, I would like to offer you the appropriate resources and support. Even people with supportive family or friends may find it difficult to discuss personal issues with those close to them. Counselling provides a setting that is impartial, safe and confidential. It can help to bring insight into your difficulties thus helping you to deal with them and move on to enjoy the life.

Beginning therapy is a brave and sometimes difficult decision. My approach is to build a trusting relationship where we can work in collaboration with one another. If you're struggling, the most important thing I hope you to feel in my practice is safe, safe to explore your feelings and experiences so that together we can help establish a way forward. Please note that occasional responses to enquiries can land in your email's "junk" or "spam" folder. If you are waiting for a reply, please check there. I aim to respond to all enquiries within three working days.

Thankyou for visiting my page today, I'm here to provide you with a non-judgemental, safe, unique and client-centred experience for your counselling journey. Through my own therapeutic journey, I have felt the benefit of having empathy and a safe space to help me understand and explore my emotions and feelings, as well as gaining self-awareness. I believe in building a strong therapeutic relationship where you can open up and explore your emotions and feelings. Even the uncomfortable and difficult ones. Doing so, I believe, leads to us having a greater understanding and to have compassion for ourselves.

I offer a safe, confidential setting where you can talk. I will always strive to make sure that the things we talk about & the pace of our conversations are acceptable to you, & that you have active control over this. I have worked with people in distress or seeking change for almost twenty years. In my view, one of the absolute foundations to doing this well is listening without judgement & then bringing warmth, gentleness & curiosity to the conversations that follow. If you are lonely, isolated or ashamed, I will safely & reliably offer you connection, care, & acceptance, as we work towards your goals.

We all struggle with difficulties at times; and it can be a great relief to face them with the right help. I have 20 years’ experience as a counsellor and offer counselling to individuals in a quiet, secure space. My aim includes helping you come to a clearer understanding of what has brought you to counselling, and supporting you in finding the way forwards that feels right for you. Perhaps surprisingly, our difficulties can become a source of change and growth.

"There is a crack in everything - that's how the light gets in" (Leonard Cohen). I love this. We all have problems, things we don't like about ourselves, things we struggle with over and over. It's part of being human, none of us are completely 'sorted'. But sometimes we feel overwhelmed, desperate, alone.... the cracks are too big, the light isn't getting in. Or we feel stuck, frustrated, exhausted, going round in circles, nothing will ever change. Perhaps you feel you can't be the real you. Maybe you feel like this a lot, or maybe it's new for you and your usual coping/support isn't working. Maybe you don't know what's wrong.

I am a fully accredited psychotherapist with over 15 years experience in both the public sector and private practice. I have trained in the use of EMDR which is especially helpful for people who have been traumatised and find it difficult to talk about their experiences but EMDR can also be used for a wide range of issues. My core training in psychotherapy can help people to understand themselves on a deeper level, help them to understand their reactions to people and life. I also trained in CBT which can give you new strategies to deal with life. My philosophy is always to work with your needs and goals

Sometimes we can find ourselves in a place where we 'can't see the wood for the trees'. We feel as if we have little or no control over ours or others behaviour. That the direction your life is taking, is going the wrong way. Accompanying this here can often be a sense of loss or injustice, of not being able to imagine a better future. With up to date psychological understanding there is a better future. Building on your own knowledge and resources we can identify your personal goals and what you want out of your appointments. This tailored approach will work with you to resolve your barriers to achieving success.

I work gently and compassionately, with individuals/couples, struggling with difficult or painful feelings, managing their emotions, and struggling to enjoy life. Communication is often an issue, as are feelings of unfairness or difficulty forming good, lasting relationships. Issues may involve partners, parents, past traumas, or inner conflict making decisions difficult. They may involve issues at work with colleagues, management or relationships. When working with couples the issues are often about unfulfilled expectations, infidelity, lack of commitment/affection, insecurity, lack of empathy, or experiences of coercion or control

Relationship Issues Counsellors
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
