I am very pleased to be able to offer a clinical psychology service based in Dalkeith, Midlothian which is high quality, easy and quick to access, and needs-led. I offer individually tailored psychological assessment and therapy for adults aged 18 and above who are experiencing a whole range of psychological difficulties and mental health issues. My specialist areas include psychological trauma of any kind, perinatal mental health issues including birth trauma, and complicated grief. I tend to work in an integrative way using elements of psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive analytic therapy and cognitive behaviour therapy.
I strongly believe that experience of damaged and difficult relationships lie at the heart of most psychological distress, whatever form this distress may take. I also believe that working on relationships, with the support of a therapist can go some way to helping people establish more healthy ways of engaging in relationships and a more fulfilling life.
When first meeting with someone I would generally suggest meeting for 2 initial appointments to find out more about what you are struggling with most at present and also to gather some background information, to see if there are any previous experiences which may help us understand things better. We would then make a plan for therapy based on this.
