I have over 20 years experience working in the NHS in both adult as well as children and adolescent mental health services. My specialism and passion is working with children and young people with a variety of emotional and mental health difficulties, including anxiety, depression and low mood, trichotillomania, lack of confidence and poor self esteem, eating issues, OCD and trauma. This includes both assessment and treatment.
Young people live in a world of constant comparison, whether it’s academic in school, or social through friendships, social media or online. The pressure this creates can often lead to overwhelming emotions and symptoms of anxiety or depression. Having prolonged emotional or mental health difficulties can be scary for both the young person and their family.
I understand that talking therapy can seem like a daunting prospect. I make therapy as creative and relevant as possible in order to get to know the young person and engage them fully in the process. My aim is that the therapy is seen as helpful and meaningful; not something to be feared or “endured” but a joint venture driven by the young person’s goals.
